I'm 4-1 against EVOs so far(blue and black car together). Stock and modded. Dig, slow roll, highway speeds.
They're not all that great at highway speeds. Alot more formidable from a stop.
Elevated boost isn't the best for the life of your turbos.
People will agree sequential is not good for the life of #2 but then the same people will turn around and run 22psi of boost through their turbos so why talk about it like that's really the reason for switching to TTC? Most do it...
I already explained the causes of the 2nd turbo failure. The opening of the IACV before the EGCV will cause the pressure from #1 to backtrack against #2 and surge it backwards if there is not sufficient exhaust energy for #2 to continue spinning forward. This should not happen. The EGCV opens...
I give up. I already refuted that. #2 dies because something is malfunctioning in the system. It does not die simply because you are running sequential. This is like the 1J myth about boosting over 1bar. If seq. truly caused the 2nd turbo to die, everyone running sequential would have a...
Because wikipedia is hardly a reliable source of info. It is regulated but anyone can edit the information in there. The editors of wikipedia aren't going to know the difference between a few numbers regarding the MKIV Supra.
I'm just supplying concrete information to help the guy make a...
#2 does not surge...
" there is also a 1 way reed valve within the same housing of the intake air control valve. as the #2 turbo starts to pre-spin at 3500 rpm, it will build some boost. if it builds enough boost, it will open the 1 way reed valve to allow this boost into the intake tract to...
You are wrong... Turbo #2 prespools at 3500 and teh VSVs are switched open to allow #2 to join in with #1. I am pulling this info straight from www.mkiv.com.
NO. #2 is pre-spooling before the IACV opens. It is not surging.
If the IACV opens BEFORE the EGCV, then yes you will have problems. IF it opens before it may cause surging(not always) and #2 to spin backwards. If the system is working how it should this does not happen and the IACV opens...
TTC just takes away power in the low end when a working seq. system would and should be supplying boost and power.
The turbos die prematurely because the system is not working correctly. #2 may not come online full until 4000 but it is being pre-spooled before then around 3500. If #2 comes...
I don't buy the "turbos will last longer" as a main reason to change to TTC.
The turbos will last longer if you leave it at stock boost but nobody does that for long...
Turbo #1 should only be making a certain amount of boost no matter if your full boost is 13 psi or 20psi and #2 should be online before 4000. Those are some other problems people have with the system. If traction is a problem, a stickier tire can be used.
Running high boost will shorten the...
Sorry, I'm going to have to disagree with most of you.
If you have a properly functioning sequential system, I don't see any reason to ditch it... If I had to change a #2 turbo once or twice, well so be it. I would rather have the benefit of sequential. You will spool up and make power...
I think the stock bypass valve on your car was broken. This is common. In my 7M days, I ran an aftermarket and stock valve at the same time for a little bit. I experienced no change in power after capping off the stock ports.
