When I did mine all we had to do was just weave it through. No need to raise the engine or anything.

I have the same problem with my batt. and brake light staying on. I have a new alternator and the car runs fine but these lights are on all the time.

A guy in my area has one of the older, 350hp ones, he ran like a mid 11 with intake, dumped headers, cams, and maybe a chip. They are pretty fast stock plus it appears they have great potential.
