    7mge Cluster in 7mgte

Resistor swap is easy, provided that you can handle a soldering iron. If not, you just need the driver board from the turbo cluster. Note, if you take the driver board from an '87 cluster, and connect it to the tach on an '89+ gauge, you may not get the results that you're expecting. It seems...

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

I got the starter out of the 90. I really really hate that top starter bolt. I ended up managing to snake a long extension with a u joint and a 14mm socket in past the A/C compressor and got it onto the nut. I had to move the brake master cylinder and proportioning valve to push the end into...

Need help wiring Lexus AFM pigtail to 7MGTE harness..

Codes? And are you sure that it's really 5000 RPM? My tach was reading about that when the engine was at 7,000.

    7mge Cluster in 7mgte

Well, I just took the driver board from the turbo cluster, but you could just change the resistors as well, and have 2 functioning gauge clusters.

    7mge Cluster in 7mgte

Gauge cluster otherwise works perfectly. I still have the NA gauge cluster in my '89. Yes, you need to change the tach, but it's not difficult to do. I don't think that the '90 wiring harness will plug 'n play in the '89. The '87 harness and ECU was *almost* pnp with the '89 chassis, with the...

Stasrted transmission removal on the '90. Got to where the next step is removing the starter... And it started to rain. Oh well.

    wire tucking project

The igniter definitely needs a ground. Many people had ignition problems after powder coating the igniter's mount. I believe that the injector resistors are fine without.

    Alarm Removal

Chances are that it can be removed, but I'd track down the wires to see where they go. Alarms typically need constant 12V (Can be disconnected, but must be insulated when you do) Switched 12V (Ditto) Sensors to the door and trunk pins can be removed easy enough, but should be protected against...

Clutch peda engagment point high after r154 swap.

I'm using the W58 master in my '89 and it works fine, engagement point is exactly where it's supposed to be. Needed the change out the softline (Ended up with an assortment of adapters, so I changed out for the braided stainless line instead.) I don't think that's it...

Got the transmission out of the '89, removed the clutch. Forgot that the ARP flywheel bolts are 1/2" 12point bolts. :( I don't own such a socket (Borrowed one when I installed it last year) so I had to remove them with a wrench and a snipe. Removing the transmission went smoothly enough, From...

    Egr delete/block off plate

It's the "Common sense that everyone knows" that putting hot exhaust gasses in contact with the head must make the head hotter, therefore blocking off the EGR must make the head cooler. Forget about the fact that what makes heat is burning fuel, and the EGR system puts inert gas into the intake...

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

Yeah, removing the intake I could have done it easy. Well, easier. I got the starter out, but that's because when I put it in last year, I only installed the lower bolt. I can reach that one. :) With luck, I'll have the clutch and flywheel out tomorrow.

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

Last time, I could not get a wrench on the nuts behind the starter at all. It took me literally hours for each bolt. I needed someone with smaller arms to get it in there, and the person who could could only barely. I understand that there are ways at it, but I just couldn't get my hand in...

    Mk3 oil pressure sender/warning light

Nice. What's the part number for that sender unit, and does it thread into an existing port, or do you need to do something to make it work? (I hope to God that I never need such a setup, but I would probably be willing to put it in place to avoid needing to tear out my engine.

My daughter's 12th birthday party today, so I didn't get as much done as I'd have liked, but I finally got under the car. Pulled the Koyo radiator that I want to use in the '90. Got under and unbolted the clutch cover from the flywheel since I had some help for a bit. gotta say that the...

    Transmission mounted exhaust bracket

Mine has the bracket, but I don't have anything on my downpipe that connects to it so I don't use it. What I have is the LIPP elbow, the RT downpipe, and the Tanabe Hyper Medallion exhaust system. The exhaust uses the factory mounts for the rear at the midpipe location where the resonator is...

    Transmission mounted exhaust bracket

The sealing surface size should be fine. I run the same elbow with an RT downpipe. The inside of the exhaust system post-turbo shouldn't be holding a lot of pressure. I don't have the problem with the hanger on the transmission, but my downpipe has nothing that connects to it, it's just the...

@Grimjack: That's really pretty. I've got a K&N FIPK on the '90. Cleaning it was one of the first things that I did. I know that you've got to be careful with the oil, but I've used a K&N drop-in with the '89 as well.
