maybe the heater hoses are leaking, even a small leak or bad o ring can cause small leaks that will dirty up your engine and give that smell off on my 2jz the water neck had 1 bad o ring and the whole thing was black and dirty because of it hehe

you can get a junker one without an airbag from an mkiii, might be 5$ or free ;) how did you remove the tar stuff?

:dunno: as long as you do it right, use a fuse etc.

might have been reading the realy mod at the same time, relay mod allows you to use your own larger gauge line to the fuel pump as i understand it and it also can be useful for dual pump setups as well
