back on the road... I hope

damn. You must not be in a relationship- any significant other I've ever had would have gone ballistic over a non-running car sitting around for 5 years. Well, I found out she isn't quite done yet... I now have an oil leak... somewhere in close proximity to the fan, because oil is being thrown...

    oil leak

I have a 1986.5 NA. I blew a rod a while back, trashed the engine, and got a JDM engine to put in it. I got it in and ran it, then had to pull it back out to fix a coolant leak, and now that I've gotten the coolant leak straight it appears that I have an oil leak somewhere. It wasn't doing it...

back on the road... I hope

I'll get pictures up as soon as I get it cleaned up a bit... it's a little dirty ATM. Plus it needs a paint job, but other than that it isn't bad. I think money pit is a fitting name actually... I paid $925 for the car originally, then had to buy a new engine ($800), gaskets, fluids, tools (my...

back on the road... I hope

Alright, so after blowing a rod and completely trashing the engine, my swap is finally done. It's raining right now, or else I'd be out test driving it. Personally, if something's wrong and I don't make it home I don't want to be out in the pouring rain trying to fix it. On a random topic, I...

    Air in cooling system

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I'm pretty sure that it can be done. If I'm wrong and it can't be done, you can probably get it done by loosening the engine mounts and raising it a few inches. I think the manual has something about it... check it out. Hope this helps you out!

kinda uninformed questions.... aka newb city

While this is generally true, the only things that are the same are the block, internal components (minus the oil pump), head, valvetrain, valve covers, manifolds (minus the throttle body), and some of the sensors. Do the research on the differences on the two and you'll be fine. I got a...

    JDM 7MGE swap

The reason why you'd need to get the head and block machined is if the surfaces are not perfectly flat. The problem is that you don't know what caused the hg to blow. If it happened because of intense heat, it's very possible that the head expanded and warped, and is now not a perfect surface...

    quick questions

I'd have to say just make sure the engine is stable enough that it won't damage it to drive it to a body shop. It needs a lot of work, but you'll feel an even greater sense of accomplishment when it's finished... good luck!

    i need some help

You shouldn't have to adjust the idle screw. High idle- maybe vacuum leak? You should run diagnostics on your car and post the codes- that way you can get a better idea of where your problem is. A bad temp sensor shouldn't cause overheating- mine has been disconnected for a long time and it...

Computer Nerd's Help needed: Intel Core Duo vs. AMD 64bit Turion

Sorry- Gotta go against the grain... I've always been an Intel person, but maybe that's just me. I've never had too great luck with AMD's. But, the majority of my computing is programming and networking. So, whatever. Best of luck!

Yeah, being single blows. Friends with benefits are always fun. I'm recovering after a breakup, and I'm working on my car a lot now... I don't know how many of you play music, but after a breakup I like going out and hitting up jazz clubs and sitting in with groups around the area. It's...
