That's why you guys should get cars with steering wheels on the correct side of the car and drive on the correct side of the road. ;-) Just kidding... too bad for you guys in the World Cup though- at least you did better than us (USA)...
Because we all like things that go fast, and deep down we all know that our favorite place is that one right below the intake manifold right at the bolt you can't quite reach without taking off the manifold. ;-)
Timing can be extremely annoying. Once your internal timing is set (lining up the marks on the cam/crank gears) you have to set the distributor timing. Take out the distributor, then set the engine to TDC (top dead center- I usually do this by taking out the #1 spark plug and sticking a...
You probably need to adjust your TPS. A how-to on this is in the TSRM. There should be no need to adjust the idle screw- if it was idling correctly before, it should idle correctly when all of your sensors are correctly adjusted. Did you buy all of the sensors new? If not, maybe a bad sensor?
It should be fine. I would suggest retorquing them greater than spec, however... I know our counterparts with turbos usually retorque them to about 72 ft/lbs... I'm fixing a BHG at the moment, and I can't afford new head bolts either, but for our NA engines it isn't as big of a deal. Good luck!
Hm. Sounds like you have a decent puzzle going on... It sounds to me like a fuse or maybe some fried/broken wiring. Let us know how it turns out. Best of luck!
Um. I just pulled the head off my supra for a BHG and I lifted it off by myself. It's really not that heavy. Take your camshafts off and you won't encounter a problem with your valves because they'll all be well out of the way. My head is in the machine shop right now- I'm having it reground...
Alright, false alarm on the oil leak. However, she's down again because of a bhg. :-( I pulled the head off and took it to a machine shop. After a $47 decking job and a $270 valve job, it'll be ready to drop back on... damn gasket.
huh? I'm kindof lost as to how that's relevant. ANYWAYS, it doesn't really matter at this point, because I now have a BHG. Damn toyota piece of crap gasket. Oh well... I'll fix it... eventually.
No- it's no longer leaking. I'm thinking it's either from where I spilled some filling the fluids or else it was because the line from the charcoal canister wasn't connected. (I was told that this could cause oil that had been absorbed to leak out)
I have one. It only ensures that the majority goes in the engine as opposed to on the ground. :-P Well, it's not doing it anymore. SO- I'm not sure. Point is it stopped. :-D I drove her around quite a bit today. QUITE amazing! Thanks guys!
OK- I'll try to get pics up ASAP. I'm kinda wondering if it might just be spillage from where I filled the fluids. I'm going to spray down the engine and check it again. Pics will be up sometime in the next few days. Thanks for the quick reply.
