Quick short answer. This system monitors the door triggers. Before you exit the vehicle you must engage the remote start. After that if you open the doors the R.S. feature is disabled.

If you have gotten a d3 yet goodluck, they've been discontinued. The new F series has a lot of soft ware issues at the moment. We are having to wait up to 2 minutes for boot up, during which you can't even adjust volume. Step up to a Z3 and you won't be disappointed or wait till they sort out...
