could be injectors, they're kind of noisy
could be valves need adjusting
could be rod knock but that is not giving you the 52
could be other things..
sure you could test continuity from connector to ecu end but if it's an intermittent it may not show up.

The tapping you are hearing is not causing your code 52.
Code 52 is the status of the knock sensor circuit.
• Knock sensor circuit
• Knock sensor
• ECU
Most likely you have a wiring problem. You could have a bad knock sensor.
Did you test the sensor itself...

My wiring recommendation is in the HKS S-AFR / A'PEXi S-AFC & NEO wiring installation in my sig ;)
edit: in it, have the info on the knock wiring, but don't recommend hooking it up.
whiplash - Either you disturbed the knock wires at the ECU connector or pulled on the harness and disturbed the wires at the knock sensor connectors. Somewhere your signal wire for knock is touching the shielding or getting a ground.

Unlock the door. If driver door does not do it, repeat process and unlock passenger door.
