A relay is basically a electromagnetic coil that when activated closes a circuit and lets your (in this case) car start. So adding power to the coil will allow the power to go to your ecu.

hvyman is right saying that the 1jz is a very good decision, but we had a thread over 1j vs 2j and it was just full of hate and butt hurting, haha in hind sight really funny. If you can save that extra 800 you will have absolutely NO regret! 2j for my suggestion.

as far as the Honda 4cyl vs Toyota 4cyl thing goes I'd say Honda is more familiar with the naturally aspirated side while Toyota left theirs to boost. I mean 3sgte, hands down is like a mini 2j. This debate is sort of a dogmatic one, asking who here would take a Honda over a Toyota Lol.
