Fluke maybe...? LOL! Either that, or it's because it knows to straighten up because I'm involved...HA!

    Door and hatch keys

Is this a recent development? Because a couple months after I bought my car back in '07, I had two fresh keys made at a dealership off of the VIN. That was about a year and a half ago.

To be honest, I don't think I've ever actually seen a video card go bad, but that's not to say that they don't...esp. the cheap ones like what comes in most run-of-the-mill notebooks. Have you tried deleting and reinstalling your video drivers first? Maybe updating them? The reason I...

If you have an extra monitor laying around (like from a desktop computer) or can get your hands on one, hook it up and see if the problem persists with the external monitor. If it does, it's most likely your video card...otherwise, your monitor is probably shitting the bed.

True, but it should help some...which is what I said.

Good point, forgot to mention that.... Tanya, make the first number the same size as the second number to lock it at a set size. Also, if you have a second internal hard drive (not partition), use that instead. It's a little faster to access two separate drives, than to double-tap the same...

I really think increasing your swapfile will help in that arena...may not be blistering, but try it...should help some. Just hard-set it to 3gigs and reboot.

Oh, for sure...I totally agree there. But, just for example, an A/V program you would want to load the monitor on startup, and in my instance, on my XP profile, I load my Creative Volume mixer/doohickey, my fan monitor for my motherboard, and my ESET and UnHackMe. But, I've turned a lot of...

Some of that stuff she may actually use -- besides, there's generally about 10 or so more things she can get rid of through the services manager....I think I've got a website or two saved in my bookmarks.

Process Explorer does that stuff too....MUCH more detailed and customizable than either...it'll even tell you the path of each file accessed for each process. Best part...it's freeware!

Even 42 processes is asinine. I try and keep mine under 30, mid-20's at best, low 30's at worst. There's a bunch of crap that XP loads that you'll never use, and on top of that...HP has even more...lol. You should be able to cut your start-up processes almost in half, and your computer will...

That's what I've been taught and followed. It's ridiculous when you have 3 or 4 gigs of RAM, yes...but even XP can eat a Gig like it's Pez...besides, in the land of 100Gig+ hard drives, what's 3gigs? *shrug*

Tanya, Go into your Virtual Memory settings and hard-set your swapfile to 3x the size of your physical RAM. (change the min and max values to that spec) So if you have a gig of memory, you'll want a 3gig swapfile. I wouldn't use the swapfile for more than 2gigs of physical RAM though...so...

If all your cables are plugged in, and the jumpers are set, it could be that XP is wigging out with the Mobo change. I'd recommend either backing up your documents, pics, etc. and reinstalling XP, or go into your Device Manager and delete your CD/DVD, Hard Drive, and IDE Controller drivers...

Razor phone users! i need help!

That's fine and dandy if he set the phone to save his pictures and songs to the flash card...but it doesn't do that by default. Also, his Contacts and SMS Messages save to phone memory, not the flash card.
