If there is tension, I would get someone to pull the release, and you go to the hood and kinda beat on the hood above the latch. And possibly pry it up with something plastic.

If the bolt broke from over-tightening, extractors should work, no problem.
If the bolt broke from cross-threding (or bottoming out), your SOL, and need to drill and tap the block to a larger size, and use a larger bolt, or an insert.

Cheeping out in flywheel and bellhousing setups can cause failure. When a flywheel fails on a high revving motor, VERY bad things can happen. And thats no guess. Cheep out somewhere else.
