Full Coverage on My 1992 Toyota Supra

I had full coverage on my '91 before it got totaled. After I bought it back, they dropped it to liability until I get a dmv inspection done...then I can put F/C back on it. When they totaled it out, they tried lowballing me at first, but after doing some legwork and faxing them the results...

whats the difference between drag radials and slicks?

M&H makes a kick-ass drag radial as well. Guys in my truck club have had pretty awesome results with them. Just keep in mind, that their tires are rated wider than they actually are...so a 245 for example in their tire is narrower than a regular street tire of the same rated width.

    Factor of safety on wheel

Your theory sounds good about the tread weight...makes sense, considering higher-rated tires wear out faster...less mass, less material, softer compounds, etc... A little google search came up with this (among others) little gem... http://www.driversense.com/driversense/column/357

    The Drone thread

Mine's not that bad actually. I've got the Blitz muffler IIRC, 3" exhaust from Turbo exit all the way back. Shit was lout as fuck when I first bought the car, had no cat....drone was HORRIBLE, and LOUD inside the car with the windows up. As soon as I put a cat in, it dropped down to almost...

New look for my '91 Twin Turbo

I LOVE those wheels....anyone wanna buy mine??? LOL! I'm more of a fan of 5-spokes than Mesh (what's on mine), but I believe that any wheel that's black w/polished lip is sexy on the Graphite Supras. :bigthumb:

    I got rear ended today.....

Glad everything's working out for you. I'm surprised it's getting fixed straight out, and not totaled.... Oh, and if you need somewhere to throw the pics up on, shoot 'em over to me and I'll host them for you.

    The Teardown...

Thanks! Just talked to the head guy tonight, he told me there's a place that could machine the head, caps, and cams and put bearings in, but it'd be over $500 to do it....soooo, looks like I'll be buying another head...D'OH!

    The Teardown...

Yeah, last April I bought a brand new Craftsman Digitork wrench before I put the heads back on my truck....shit is dead-on...lol. No compression test, but I'm wondering if those loose bolts contributed to/caused my oil leak that led to the motor chooching on me....I know that the previous...

    The Teardown...

Actually, the sup is supposed to be pullin' D/D duty, winter or no....hasn't seen a Colorado winter yet though...lol.

DIY: Tail Lamp Failure Sensor Bypass GET YOUR TAIL AND/OR BRAKE LIGHTS BACK!

How 'bout this -- all my brake/tail lights work, but the dash light comes on when I turn my lights on...I think the box is bad, it was mounted to that back wall when my car got rearended last year...

    The Teardown...

Well, I knew the wrench was about 12ft/lbs off, so I had compensated for it....but then I threw it on the torque standard at work and it was varying anywhere between 11 and 14ft/lbs, so it wasn't consistent. But even 1 or 2 ft/lbs shouldn't have made THAT much difference... Oh, and they're ARP...

    The Teardown...

Yeah, been drivin' it since August...seems like every time I fix something on the Sup, something else goes wrong, and the truck gets kicked back to D/D duty...lol.

    The Teardown...

Well, my motor did piss all of it's oil out halfway between LA and Vegas....that's why the motor has rodknock as well. Although, I did look at the cap side rod bearings, and they all look pretty damn good....it's weird. I'll plasti-gage them here soon, as well as the mains...you could...

    The Teardown...

Well, the head is supposed to be brand new (as of when I bought the car a couple years ago), and supposedly been ported...I'll ask the machinist about that though, because those intake ports look like they've still got a casting finish on 'em...haven't really looked at the exhaust ports.

    The Teardown...

Couple things I noticed when I was pulling the head -- all the exhaust side head bolts seemed to be a lot looser than the intake side...not sure how that happened, since I retorqued the head last March. Also, when I had the head off, I noticed that the Metal headgasket had delaminated, like the...

    Where to get keys cut?

Exactly....I should post a pic of my Mom's original key and the replacement I had cut from her VIN for her Saturn....it's a wonder the old key even worked still....LOL!
