Don't run the car with the terminals jumped all the time. Take you time and get the part if it is indeed your problem. If Toyota wanted the terminal to be jumpered all the time, it would have been...
And that's exactly what the stuff that got looked like. In the very back, top shelf, most dust covered quart there (had one of the highest prices too) ;).
A machinist can cut down a piece of bar stock in the same diameter as the Toyota shims to whatever thickness you will need. IIRC someone mentioned the Ford ZETEC engine that had shims in the head (suppost the be one that doesn't) would be a direct drop in for ours too.
TKA: you still...
Yes, it's only sold at Autozones to my knowledge, but there may be a hidden store out there selling also. Whatever AZ has on the shelf of the GC is it, no more, unless they have some boxes in the back that is ;).
Like I was saying the other day to someone else. I tried 4 different AZ's, the...
If you didn't say you felt it in the shifter I would have either guessed noisy injectors (doubt it) or valves needing to be shimmed. I'm thinking maybe the RP oil is bringing out a little more valvetrain noise than the other stuff did, but jdub would really know if the RP is thinner at operating...
Trust me, IJ.'s right, I see this 1G turbo Talon around town every now and then with a racing fuel cell (red) with SS lines down there all nice a purdy along with a nice, shiny fuel pump visible too, I know that shit ain't stock ;).
Great start to a very promising build!
That has got to be the cleanest, most dead sexy looking MKII I've ever seen!!
Be careful with shaving material off the head and block, try to steer away from the engine becoming an interferance type.
Nah, sure don't ;).
Later that night I took one of my friends for a drive in it who owns a 2G turbo Talon... He was thuroughly impressed and about creamed himself in my car when he heard my exhaust echoing off the buildings to each side of us when I floored it :biglaugh:
Not sure, but there's 24 valves all together, so if all the shims need a different size (I'd say you should be able to mix and match some that are out of clearance with others that are and make a couple work without having to buy more) then I'd be planning on saving some for it.
I seen it too, but I thought I'd wait and see how long it took the others to notice you JDM tyte math skillz ;).
Not entirely true nowadays with BB turbos. IJ. claims to see 1 psi of boost by 1900 RPMs with his and I'm pretty sure it's larger than the CT-26 ;).
I don't see any problems by thinning the throttle plate either, but just like he said, one loose screw from not taking your time with it will make a nice impression on your piston ;).
I feel sorry for the poor guy who will inherit your car and it problems from your screw ups and the previous owner's too. I'm sure he'll be on here with one of his first threads saying, "HELP!!!! BHG, what now?" :3d_frown:
The only way I could picture this working is by what johnathan was saying, "more load on the engine" due to the extra weight the engine is having to spin to make the car move, but 1K less? C'mon...
Hey John, just to keep everyone on track here, can you list the specs of everything that you are considering for these piston when you talk to the rep? I know you've got some sorta list hidden somewheres ;).
I've seen a video of one with a 2JZ swapped into it, pretty fucking sick. There's probably only two Honda's I'd ever consider owning, the S2000, and the NSX.
