Well see here's the problem with your car
It's not tuned
Greyish smoke is either oil or raw fuel...can be determined by what the smell is
But I'm thinking your running rich between shifts
Some more info on mods, does it smoke on deceleration?
How about while in boost?
What type bov and is...
7mge has a distributor
7mge has a different intake manfiold than gte
7mge has no turbo(unless converted over to na-t
heres a link to a picture of a 7mge(with no turbo)
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2993315/1989-toyota-cressida
there are quiet a few different things from ge to gte...
there was a jdm 7mgte with ruffly 40k miles at import face off
only mods where 3in down pipe(stock elbow) fuel cut defender on 15psi(boost spiking 18psi)
he was running 14.1-14.3 on 3 different runs
im with greek on this 1
plz give us a story lol
last customers c4 vette i worked on forgot to tighten down the bolts for his glass targa top
well when he was on his way to dayton...i think everyone can figure out the rest lol
$600 later and it had a new targa lol
thats what i couldnt understand
i could see the rear 1 being broke if he was changing the starter
im thinking his problem isnt knock sensors...possibly bad wires
im unsure of what you mean by breaking the knock sensors
is the connector of the sensor literally breaking off or do they keep going bad?
i wouldnt suggest just using 1 knock sensor
using 2 knock sensors is toyotas way of controlling the engine a whole lot better
lets say you disconnect the...
360 for a stock turbo Wtf lol
I paid 360 for my 46 trim ct26 from Albert ...does great work
I wouldn't trust that turbo honestly
IIRC he normally sells 57 trims for about 550

not saying to go with this turbo...i read this thread from start to finish(yes i get bored a lot lol)
most said it was bolt on but had some issues/fabrication
yes i do believe my motor is healthy...well it must be since its been my dd for 8 months now lol
i use about 1qt between oil changes(not to bad if i say so myself lol)
sees boost everyday as well lol
honestly i probably should hook my pcv system back up sometime soon
only reason it was...
smart man
i ran my 3sgte ct26 for a while with shaft play like what you are experiencing
didnt keep an eye on shaft play(like i should of done)
long story short...i tore motor down for a rebuild after about 6 months lol
for some reason my piston rings werent so happy with me lol
thats a lot of oil lol
ATTENTION OP I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND LEAVING PCV HOSES OFF(even though im doing it lol)
leaving them off will cause oil coking etc...
http://www.alltrac.net/tuning/turbo.html
remember 1 thing
when your play gets to bad and begins to rub on housing
all those metal shavings will be entering your cylinders(not good:) lol)
my back ground is with diesel engines(mainly cummins ism and isx)
wasnt trying to rule out a clogged pcv system
i was trying to see if there is a problem with blowby(in which you stated and jstoked stated)
pcv is there to help crank case pressure and gases release(we both a agree here...
i would do as destruxand jstoked said
i have ran my mk3 with no hoses or vaccum applied to my valve cover pcv tubes for 8 months now
daily driven 80 miles a day and 5 days a week...my oil rings are still in good shape
postive crank case pressure will find a weak spot to release...
which...
i rewatched vid again
the backfiring i thought i heard was noise in the video recorder lol
ok so scratch the running rich part
still go with plans on replacing plugs, wires and gaskets
then check for boost leaks and give an update
i know my 3sgte would smoke like a freight train...
the odds of oil seeping down past the gasket and past threads is slim to none
think about it
you have 150psi compression
if oil is able to seep down(with no pressure applied) then cylinder compression would surely leak past the gasket and threads as well(causing low compression)
from the...
