A quick search would have probably netted you the answer: the R154 was mated to the turbo engine, the W58 was mated to the non-turbo engine. The A340e was the automatic used in both, however the internals were stronger in the turbo version.
Exhaust is custom built by my brother, with ultimate performance in mind. I don't care for the huge-ass canisters hanging off the back of the car.

edit: wow, so much has changed since then! Repaint, 2 transmissions (another auto, now a 5-speed), new wheels and tires.

Put a jack (even a scissor jack) under the crank pulley with a block of wood (about a foot long 2x4 works well) and jack the front end of the motor up. The rear will dip downwards and make it much easier to get to those bolts.
Probably bad starter contacts, mine did that too until I replaced...
