I just finished my little setup today... It's just a temporary thing for now untill I get my car all fixed up (coolant/maybe bhg/valve cover gasket issues)... right now this is what i'm running
Sony CDX-GT500 head unit - NEW
Sony XM-1252GTR amp - NEW
1 12" JL w0 4-ohm... - NEW
2 4"...
oh... and I am willing to bet money it's the head gasket... I know it problably is.. but it's my dad, my mechanics teacher, and a couple of my car savy friends who are telling me otherwise...
well, no more rushing water sound :) (could be cause it's fairly low on coolant right now.. but the resevoir sayts full)... guess the rad cap did it's job... but it is now leaking coolant from somewhere around the thermostat... havent changed anything ont he car yet.. going to get a new clutch...
well, not constantly, but when it does go up it goes back down really quickly (usually)... sometimes it stays up near the read for a 30 seconds, then I put the clutch in and rev the engine a little and you hear the coolant start to move and it goes back down... but ya, it goes up really quick...
Well, I posted before about my car overheating when stopped w/ engine off... and how i could hear air in the lines (rushing water in the dash).. so I replaced my rad cap, and burped the system.. problem still there... I then took my car to Midas, and they pressure tested the cooling system, and...
In the area that holds the jack I had about 8 inches of water in that little area... water wasnt rust coloured or anything... but I'm glad I found it during my first detailing of my car (just got it)... I just soaked it up with paper towel (used a whole bunch!)... I found a gold barbie shoe at...
LSD = Limited Slip differential... opposed to the open diff that comes standard on the NA's
It's the rear end of the car pretty much... It allows the car to put more power to the wheel that has the most traction... ex. one tire on ice, other on pavement... it will put the power to the wheel...
Ya, mines an 88 with the 4 speaker setup... it doesnt seem like it couldn't be factory, with the wiring harness and everything... hmmm ya it's only 30Wx2..
Well I was cleaning out my new supra and found an amp under the passenger side seat... I'm just wondering if this came with the factory radio or was added afterwards... It has all the power and speaker wires are all bunched together in a little harness, so it looks like it came from the factory...
yup, new rad cap fixed my problem (I hope)... heard the rushing water sound twice... and the car didnt overheat when I parked it.. and the coolant in the resevoir was hot... before it was cold... :) hopefully problem is fixed!
Well after talking to a buddy of mine, I've kind of stopped worrying about it being a bhg... (no burning coolant int he engine, no steam or anything like that, no coolant in the oil)... although the thought of a bhg is in the back of my mind, I think it's my rad cap... not being able to take the...
ugh, please dont be a blown head gasket... It was done 40,000k ago (apparently it's a metal one, done at a very good shop)... I just bought the car, and dont have money to spend on getting it done... ugh.
thats what I figured.. going to get all the fluids done on the car and the oils (just got it today)... so i'll get them to test my rad cap, and get me a new one if I need it.
I did that, for about 30 minutes parked ona big slope with my heater full blast... but the problem continued.. I think it might be my rad cap... or I just didnd to a very good job of burping it
you think it just sounds like it was filled improperly? thats what I thought.. it's not leaking coolant anywhere, the only other thing I can think of is the rad cap letting air into the system.. but the car had been sitting for a week and nothing was leaking from it.
Can air in my cooling system lead to a blown headgasket? I need to get it properly flushed tomorrow... My temp gauge looks like it's posessed (goes from extremely hot down to normal temp... then all of a sudden back up to hot)... that doesnt happen all the time but it does do it on occasion. And...
