Well, I stopped by the shop where my supra is having it's head gasket done. Got to see my motor stripped down to the block... Head gasket was fubard (almost all cylinders were leaking) and it was broken at cylinder #1 and #6... otherwise it was in decent shape... I could see coolant pooled in...
haha no worries, it's been a good thread to read.. and some good ideas have come out of it. I would love it if there was a way to replace the temp gauge in the dash with a better one, but still have it look factory... like, is there away to take an aftermarket one and merge it with the old one...
Figit: I paid $1200CAD including a new metal gasket, new head bolts and machining the head.
Johnathan: ya.. I do need to replace the tailight gaskets... I'm not sure if i'm going to be replacing them with 89+ tailights tho... if I keep my 88 ones I'll replace the gaskets...
Where should the temperature gauge normally be when the car is at running temperature... Mine has always been between 1/3 and 1/2... but then again it's had a bhg since I got it... :3d_frown:
Haha ya, thanks. Just washed it and got a chance to wax the hood before the rain came... Just called the shop and they were workin on it when I called them :icon_bigg so hopefully I will be back on the road on monday or tuesday
Well, i'm runnin a pretty cheap setup right now... but It's a little over the $500 budget you have...

Sony XM-1252GTR 1/2 channel amp - $230
Sony 30wx2 cheapo old amp under passenger seat - ?

:nono: Well, not exactly blown, but a small leak in my head gasket... you guys were right (I knew it probably was a bhg)... anywho... it's at the local shop (best in town, where the police get their cruisers maintained)... it's having the head shaved and a metal head gasket put in... hopefully...
ya, I'm blowin coolant out of my overflow (it's always at the very top when the car is hot)... no milkshake oil or oily coolant yet.. so maybe I'll be able to get the hg done on time before i do any engine damage.. I think it's just a leak in the hg forcing air into my lines... compression test...
well man that sucks.... I'm pretty sure I've got a bhg... I'm getting the head pressure tested tomorrow morning... will probably confirm my suspision... if it's not a bhg... I need to find out what the hell else I have to change in my cooling system to stop it from getting air in the lines... :S
I would like in on this.. hopefully it's not too late!

Here is a picture of the shift knob that I liked...
And here is the part # 00602-36303-000
I'm not 100% on that part number, but it comes up on google as trd shift knob w/ red logo... so i'm pretty sure it's the right one!
Quick Q... Would a TRD shift knob fit on our shift lever?
I was looking at some at the toyota dealership and one looked pretty similar to the factory shift knob on our cars (which I love, it's so comfortable...)... but mine is kind of worn, so I was just wondering if one would fit...
Well, my interior lights and my key light in the interior doesnt work. So after a little searching on the internet I think the problem is I have a bad integration relay.. I found the light blue fuse box behind the driverside kickpanel, but cant seem to find a way to get behind it, or even see...
