Why push button start, thought I should chime in with why I did it & have been using the system for about 11 years on the Supra without any problems.
Far from being "stupid" it actually simplified a number of systems into one unit.
1) Insurance con-panies insist on them here so, you...
After all that I felt it time to start putting stuff back on the engine.
This is self explanatory really, all went back with new parts where needed & new gaskets.
For interest this is how the 1Jz timing gear is set out. Thanks Mark for tightening my crank with your big tool :)
And now just...
Update 24/02/2010
It’s that time again, the continuing voyage of a guy in a workshop with a Supra driven only by the compelling fumes of standard thinners…
So, since the last update I have been working away on getting the engine finished & reloading stuff back into the engine bay...
Am very pleased to see you migrate this build thread over here at long last
I thought I'd do my bit for international relations :biglaugh:
Lol, I totally understand what you mean & if this was a yUK car that had lived in our climate for a number of years I'd have had too but, this car lived...
Honestly, you don't want this car, it's a shed - just look at the pictures the whole engine fell out & everything :biglaugh:
I just do domestic, commercial & vehicle electrics, lighting & sound/AV. Mainly house electrics for the bread & butter money.
I don't earn very much in reality...
Thanks everyone for the feedback, it's great to share an interest with others, particularly world wide. I've not set out to make some sort of show stopper or museum piece, I just want the bl00dy thing to last another 20 years & pref not be dissolved by our climate over here in the yUK...
Update: 01/01/2010
Happy new year kids, may it be a prosperous & happy one for you all preferably with a long, hot & dry summer too!
Time to update this thread as it's been a while. Obviously christsmess got very much in the way of this project over the last few weeks. That and the fact...
Update: 11-10-09
It's that time again, I'm sure you all can't wait for this latest instalment of bracketry photographed in captivity!
First up, I'd like to boast I have now been allowed to upgrade from the "Early learner" pedal set with the large novelty sized speDal pedals, to a full set of...
Update: 15-09-2009
Time for another update, not been sitting on my ar5e the last few weeks that's for sure.
Finished off the spraying of the monocot panels. This not only adds rustproofing it also makes things look much tidier when you peer into things.
When you start one of these...
Update: 19-08-2009
It's that time again, thought I should update this thread so you knew I wasn't slacking too much!
Due to work load & a ferociously busy social schedule , things have been moving slowly the last few weeks however, progress has been made.
Firstly, this bit had to be...
Update 11-07-09:
As a continuation of the ongoing refurbishment of my suspension, I wanted to fit poly anti roll bar bushes to the supra.
Now, finding ones for the front was not a problem, they are off the shelf even in this pathetic c U ntry so, I just ordered a set from HERE Job done...
Update; 27-05-09
So, another 2 weeks passed but, had some time to play with the car.
To finish off the preparations of the rear sub frame I had the rear callipers to deal with. Once the 3 layers of paint had been removed (yellow, silver & red) I was absolutely gob smacked by the...
Hi Folks, I have not posted on here for a while but, check by from time to time. I've been rather busy doing a restoration/build on my JDM 1jz-gte Aero Limited.
Kai suggested to me I should post this thread up here too as it may be of use/provide a laugh at my expense :icon_bigg The original...
This may be of interest, I have just finished stripping down my write off Aero and cut a few repair panels off it for others.
You can see really clearly the additional bracing in the Aero shells & personally I think these cars, with the roof on are stiffer than the standard hard tops because...
Lol - I'd rather leave the yUK for warmer places :)
Ritey, I have tried to include as much info as possible here, basically some HID kits will accept BOTH negative & positive switching systems where as others will ONLY accept positive based systems.
The diagrams/info following is to add a...
Hmmm,
Did the halogen lamp change from hi to low correctly?
May be worth trying the relay quickly anyway - what HID kit are you using?
It's gonna be something simple, sorry it's not a "it's this" answer at the mo!
Sorry guys, I missed all these posts.
The LEDs in the needles are 0603 package - pretty much the brightest & smallest package I could find at 1.6 x 0.8 x 0.6 mm (LxWxH) and 180mcd they seemed the best option for the space.
The speedo is the worst gauge due to te clock spring at the front...
What did you try? Adding a relay or adding a spare bulb into the opposite holder that the HID kit is plugged into?
The "HEAD" relay with no "dimmer" relay confirms you have a negative based system so, the relay mod should get things going, I have fitted this with complete success on 3 supras...
As above - I'd try a different battery, I have had battery connections fail internally and cause this sort of thing, seems to tie in with the wiggling of the terminal thing too.
