Yes, Coan is a great tranny. ATI is a great tranny also if set up correctly.
Both companies have nearly the same set-ups if all the options are added in. I like the service at Coan a good bit better than ATI. ATI gave Duane and I the holy hell of a run around on getting his tranny built. But...
That would be great Bryan. You are always more than welcome here. Just let me know and I will try and have something ready for us to do.
Hope to have the short block done soon and ready to install with your old tranny set up.
I need to fiqure out some fuel and get a head built also.
Tilton if you can find a flywheel for the mk3. They used to make a full kit and I think you can still buy a clutch kit, but I know they quit making the needed flywheel some time ago.
Coan makes a great tranny also, but is a bit more money than the ATI. Hard to beat the ATI converter they build for the supra. It is a custom unit similar to the Fuel/Blown converters that are made to handle several thosand HP. I can't wait for you to make a build thread as your 7m will be...
We use an underbucket "make up shim" all the time without problem. Use the stock shim on top, and add a make up shim under the bucket as well. Make the shim only as thick as need to make up the reduction in base circle. We usually make them about .010 smaller in diameter to avoid the curved edge...
As IJ said. There are loads and loads of genuine namebrand parts on ebay. Ebay does not make parts, it is only a sales website.
Why does everyone always say "ebay parts" as if ebay made them. A cheap ass part can be purchased from 1000's of real car part websites also, not just ebay. I see...
Started to pull the interior out to get ready for the cage. Finding spare time to work on the car is the biggest obstical right now.
I am going to try and have the short block finished in the next week or so. I have in stalled some arp main studs and line bored the mains. Next I just...
Pulled the radiator, fan, water pump, and pullies and noticed that someone in the past has messed with pulling the motor or the damper. Look at this dent in the air conditioner coil assembly behind the radiator.
Got the turbo and many other items off. Will pull the motor and tranny soon.
That is very good info there Jeff. No book I have here for bearing sizes ever mentioned different sizes for the mains. I am very surpized to hear about the bearing housing hole for the mains. I have never seen a block with markings on the main caps to indicate sizing like they did with the rods...
Just wanted to post what I found under the passenger seat when I removed it today. Look at all this junk, I can drop 100lbs just by removing all the spare change and critter nut stashes!
Call me at 330-541-1122 9am to 5 pm weekdays and I will be happy to explain everything in great lenght, just don't feel like typing out a book here on line. And you are 100000% correct when you say most people are doing it wrong.
The worlds most powerful 7mgte uses Clevite "P" series (NDC) right out of the box and turns nearly 9800 rpms on them with nearly 1400hp. Tell your machinist the P series will work out ok. No one makes a H series or race series anymore that I am aware of.
Damn Bryan!! I would like them, but I already scaled a set of eagle rods and spun the crank for the weight. I would still do your crank at my cost however.
This short block will just be a temp. short block untill I have the time and money to build a proper one. So it is Eagle rods and probe...
I didn't put any paint on your block! I would rather of used your block, at least it was late model block. I already have a tranny, but if you come accross those th400's you talked about, I would be happy to get them from you.
I think I will be just using a new HKS gasket. I am not sure of...
Has not been painted yet Andy. Paint party? It would be great for you to do this. I have everything needed to paint and prep the car as I used to paint cars. Painting maybe a little further on. I think red is going to be the color inside and out. When the time come, I will be sure to hit you up...
