only reason i didnt do the headgasket was i could care less about the 160k mile 7m that was in it
had a rebuilt 7m sitting on the stand ready to swap in
i traded for a 85 mustang with a 302 1 time
sounded like it had 1 hell of a lopey cam in it but absolutely no power
compression test comfirmed 2 cylinders side by side was dumping compression
new headgaskets and she was running like a beast.... lol
yup i did this on my 7mgte supra for 8 months
headgasket was blown into the combustion chamber...never burned coolant just lost 2 qts every 50 mile trip to work
top her off and drive back lol
i didnt think somebody made a video but it will help
make sure you put the valves back in where they came out
post pictures of valve seats...mainly exhaust...
to make sure you dont have any burnt valves and can fix it without having to remove head again
exhaust valves tend to pit on the seat face
if you dont know how to replace a valve stem seal then i would step away from the car til you have the money to have a professional do it
each valve clearance is adjusted using shims that sit ontop of lifter buckets
a simple coating of oil will last a good ways
i have a 7mgte block...
OR
put in 5th gear
have someone press the brake pedal
then break it loose
as far as coating the pistons and walls
when im doing a headgasket and the head wont be back from the machinist for a while
i just put a thin coat of 5w30 oil on the cylinder walls
cylinder 6 is where the gasket went out
see how clean the piston and combustion chamber on head is...BHG is a bad thing but will clean your parts for you haha
yes the water neck holds the tstat inside it...theres 3 nuts(or maybe 2 nuts and 1 bolt) that bolt it to the head
the cps(Cam Position Sensor) is right behind the water neck
see the black plastic cap with 3 screws? that hole assembly is the cps
its held it with 1(i believe 12mm bolt) remove...
my pup is a german shepard/retriever mix...about 8 months old
mine has a black snout...very smart dog too lol
ok back on track
put that clamp back onto your turbo(holds exhaust housing to center cartridge) before your turbo is mis handled and possibly breaks a fin off 1 of the wheels...
