i've done a bit. The more attentive you are to detail and control the more successfull you will be at it, because some processes can get pretty finnicky. Anybody just wanting to do a few pieces would be much better off to have somebody else do it though...setup costs can get just a little bit...
right now I'm rocking 2 pioneer 4" up front, and some pioneer HU. Took the speaker covers off to make it a little louder, and to save 1/4lb in weight :naughty:
in the future I'm looking to have 4 6.5's or 2 6.5's and 2 6X9's....and 2 10" subs and at least a 650w amp to take place of the...
there's a civic around town with an intercooler, but no turbo....he has hoses going back about 4" from it. A buddy of mine told me he saw it, but I didn't think he was serious until I saw it in wal-mart parking lot. My best friend and I couldn't stop laughing, until the guy came out and saw us!
besides your basic wrences, all I used when I changed mine out was a C clamp to press the caliper pistons in and a torque wrench to put the lug nuts back on. Most of it is just taking wheels off and jacking the car around if you don't have a set of jackstands.
I you decide to do it yourself...
if my understanding of them is correct, the car may throw a code but whether it does or not it won't detect the pinging of detonation and thus won't retard timing...making for a very sad motor.
i'd imagine the speed sensors would tell the computer something along the lines of "woah wtf is going on here!" and you'd have a mess on your hands. I'll be taking the ABS out of my car sometime though, just for that reason and the fact that I'm used to not having it anyway.
