    getting a daily beater...advice?

yeah I figured the porsche wouldn't be all that reliable....it's probably been beat to hell and back too. Expensive parts from germany didn't sound good either...and I though some of Toyota's stuff was expensive! there's an AW11 in autotrader the guy wants $2500 for, 120K miles, says it runs...

    getting a daily beater...advice?

seeing as though the supra curse is starting to catch up to me and my wallet, I've got to start shopping for a daily driver and retire the supra to weekend/jackstand duty...i've been meaning to do it but now I might really have to. I'm looking for something anywhere from $1000 to $6000, has to...

[[[STOLEN]]]] EUGENE, OR: MY SUPRA. 1988, Blue, HID, 7 Spoke Wheels, 3" Exh.

what if you were to wire the switch up to the factory alarm circut? If I'm reading the TEWD right you could toss a switch between the starter relay and the TDS and bam, instant security! Toss a switch in the coinholder, behind the dash skirt, etc...same with the clutch switch and the fuel...

    Rotors and calipers

brembo is OEM on the new ferrari FXX, which says an awful lot....but they don't make slotted/drilled rotors in an OEM fit for ours, only regular. There's a story about that floating around here somewhere.

what size is the stock boost gauge?

~65mm for the bottom of the opening...the faces themselves are larger, but I'm not going to tear apart my spare cluster right now.

    Which is better?

especially with something as important as brakes...but IMO a good set of slotted rotors looks better than the drilled counterparts. I love the look of the KVR BBK rotors....just don't like the price haha I think it was stop tech that had a good writeup on the subject...they prettymuch said if...

    strange overheating problem

ok just tried to burp the system...don't know what this means but it'll warm up to temp, then periodically blow a good bit of coolant out the top. Not violently, but enough to send it 2" over the outlet. Goes back down to regular level (1 1/2" below the rim) I don't know if this is just a...

    worst day ever

i know, it's called immaturity with a little bit of recklessness mixed in....even if you were capable of handling a marraige and kids at the age of 18 I would think the smart one would enjoy the last moments of the free life while they still can. I know I will be! that said, at 16 I'm in well...

    strange overheating problem

fan is fine, all 10 blades...the clutch gives some resistance, and it spins about 160-170* when given a good push, which I guess is in spec. I don't know how to test the water pump...the belt tension is within spec though. One buddy of mine says he had the same problem on his N/A and it ended...

    strange overheating problem

That's along the lines of what I was thinking...but oh god don't even go into the horrors of annealing the head...looks like I'll be ordering some hoses and clamps here soon. I can't afford to toast anything major right now...it's my DD for the moment I'll burp the system after it cools down...

    strange overheating problem

yeah, as a matter of fact...not immediatley after, but a week or two. I just got back from giving it a really good look through, and it looks like there's a small leak next to the lower radiator hose, specifically the smaller hose that sits right above it and takes a bend towards the block...

    strange overheating problem

I pulled the ISC off a few weeks ago when I was fixing some idle problems...the hoses looked fine and the clamps are most definately tight. I've checked all my heater connections, and from what I can see by the T-stat housing it's fine in there. The passenger side of the block looked a little...

    strange overheating problem

ok i've looked into this a little bit, and not once have I seen another symptom like mine. When I start the car up after it's had a small amount of time to cool down, or from when it's dead cold, my temp gauge will slowly (1min-2min timeframe from normal op. temp.) climb all the way up past...
