It smells bad no doubt. Gut 1 of the cats. It will probably still pass emissions that way (at least here). You should have at least 1 catalyst. I just kept ramming a prybar down the cat until all the guys fell out. Wear a mask!! The dust from those things is bad news.

Glad you got your car back. I wouldn't recommend pulling your efi fuse all the time. Your car would be in a constant state of learning and would never run right.
