Any idea on power figures with my supporting mods?
Any kind of other equivalent turbo...
You quoted me and ripped it apart without even understanding what you quoted.
If I was "chasing a compressor surge noise for a while", then that obviously means i was investigating the problem.
A larger vacuum source was tried,
the BOV was completely disassembled, checked, lubricated, and...
thanks for the replies everyone.
yeah this turbo was rebuilt by driftmotion about 12K miles ago
im using a recirculated and recently cleaned and lubed HKS SSQV. I might consider getting a different one because I was chasing a compressor surge noise for a while and then deemed it "normal SSQV...
So i warmed up the car for five minutes before pulling onto the highway.
1st gear, moderate throttle, ok, shift.
2nd gear, giving little more than half throttle, probably around 9psi. i hear a faint whine as the turbo spools up.
BOOM.

After it...
Upgrade Update!
So i got my downpipe fixed up a couple weeks ago, just been lazy on posting the update.
So glad to get rid of that HKS one, this one makes heaploads more power :)
I was going to bore out the wastegate while i had the downpipe off, but decided not too because i was worried...
Its an easy way out for the exhaust, for more power and noise..
i've always just been a sucker for an open exhaust on a turbo car:yumyum:
It was a little painful getting rid of that exhaust. It is very nicely made, very straight, and sounded great. Unfortunately i was definitely not digging...
Supra was in the shop the other day.
I was too lazy to work, so i took a couple pictures and a short sound clip. :icon_razz

shaeff: i'm gonna take a closer look at that fuel line, maybe i can clean up the install
sir georgee: yeah it REAL nice having a shop to work at.. makes me spoiled. It's an audi shop i work at.
RazoE: there's got to be a simpler solution here. You're dealing with rubber hoses, not a trying to...
thanks guys!
RazoE- i have a recirculation adapter on the hks doodad.
That goes to my recirc hose which is a 1.8T coolant hose. hehe, perfect bend!. Inside diameter is just a little smaller.
That fits onto the metal cylinder in the accordian pipe port... I would rather use the one closer to...

Got my bay looking more like..well..my bay.
Still a little bit of red wiring harness tape to cover up but it's come a long way.:icon_razz
All that i need to do now is get it dyno tuned.

I wired up a better switch.
I was going to put the new style switch in the useless coin tray next to the fog light switch but found it to be much more comfortable elsewhere.
HIDs installed in Hella Housings.
Brand New targa seals installed.

UPDATE UPDATE
It's almost been a year, i think its time for an update..
I've been pretty busy with repairing and restoring odds and ends and i've done a couple modifications as well.
I've wanted to focus on making use of the power upgrades to the car, and using the 57 trim CT to it's capacity...
Your A/F will read lean if you're misfiring. Could be from a timing issue, ignition, compression, fuel.
Recently, I had a bad intake manifold gasket leak. It ran as lean as 21:1 at idle. What's your A/F at idle?
What's it at 2000RPMs in neutral?
What's it at cruising speed?
When running...
