Hey guys, I recently fixed up my Supra, and dropped the transmission to do a clutch change. I got the F1 racing stage one clutch in there right now, flywheel was resurfaced, new pilot and throwout bearings as well as the clutch and pressure plate (F1 kit), After installation the idle is fine at...
The picture shows a small scuff from when the pressure plate accidentally scraped on the flywheel but was repaired during resurfacing of the flywheel. As for the updates today, everythings back up and shes running, stiffer clutch and definitely more response, this spot to be reserved for pictures :D
Thank you, I haven't given it as much TLC as much as I have with my old red mk3, but she'll get there. After these things are fixed, Im planning on working on the body and paint next then lowering the car.
More parts arrived in the mail today, can't wait to put her back together tomorrow and then the final piece would be the CPS connector from Driftmotion :D
Thanks guys, I just finished up putting the motor back together, still minor things to touch up, old brittle harness sections cut off and resoldered new wiring and proper wire insulation, just need to redo the CPS connector now. Head surface was "near true" as the machine shop locally told me...
Heres a photo of where the cylinders leaked compression into each other, luckily it wasnt oil/coolant mixture, my gasket set arrived in the mail today. The set came with a replacement head gasket but no way thats going into the motor, thus I will be using the Titan MHG :evil2:
Thanks guys, I tried the grease and hammering a socket into the hole, all that happened was the bearing crushed into pieces and the outer ring was left in place, although i was able to get a hold of a bearing puller from harbor freight and I hope that takes care of the issue. I got my upper...
Dropped the transmission today and going to be swapping in a F1 Stage-1 clutch before she is brought back to life. Curious though, upon removal of the pilot bearing, the bearing shred into pieces and the outer ring was left in there and I dont know how to get it out does anyone have any...
^ Thats what I am considering. There is a local machine shop just around the corner here Im going to visit them on monday to get a quote on head work and getting the block surface decked. I have some friends who work at Napa who can get me a good deal on the lineup of sealed power bearings so i...
Yeah, but i just want some input on the Head gasket before i buy it. Compression test showed leak between 3-4 i dont notice any knocks in person, maybe you're hearing the grinding cps and the valve tick?
Checked compression test today, cylinders 3-4 are leaking compression to each other, i am thinking of the Titan 1.4mm head gasket, anyone have any input on this?
^ Thanks, gonna be looking into that. But I have never tackled a transmission rebuild. if its not much different to get it sent out to a shop to rebuild plus warranty and cleaning, ill do that. if not, im in a lot of gear-work lol
Yeah i can check timing to make sure it didnt skip a tooth, and as for the noise it was the cam position sensor bearing or something inside it, at a certain RPM it would make the horrid noise and put your finger on the cps cover and sure enough you'd feel it scraping.
Yeah, Im glad the turbo worked out well!
Updates as of 12/6/2012: Got my battery warranty exchanged @ Walmart as my old one started crapping out on me, still awaiting parts to come in the mail (fingers crossed that its not another BHG causing the misfire) and got my injectors back from the...
Updates: Checked spark plugs and all of them were still good new looking (as i did just get them a day or two ago) no cracks on the porcelain part of the plug, gaps were all even at 0.030" around there IIRC, just waiting for my CPS to come in the mail and will be reinstalling everything, keeping...
I hope its as simple of a problem as that, i got my injectors inspected and cleaned today, they were good. Replaced the seals, o-rings and pintle caps but im having doubts in the back of my head its another BHG (hopefully not)
anyone? im hoping its just an external motor issue, id honestly doubt its the head gasket again as its not showing the symptoms i had when i blew my HG.
Winter hibernation mode: Car started misfiring on me last night so I am going to do some repairs and maintenance to her during the winter before i fix anything else, currently waiting on my parts that I have ordered, list of repairs are as follows:
Replacing CPS
Replaced spark plugs and wires...
