    home-brewed vf meter

I just have a neo and no other fancy elec.

    home-brewed vf meter

I couldn't find an easy way to monitor vf using a pre-made device. So I decided to design a vf meter for myself. If you read this and don't know what vf is, read this first: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39856 and this...

r154 assembly, 5th gear syncro engages

It does this with or without the shift forks installed? Did you install the two spring clips and the 3 little tabs btwn the hub sleeve and the hub? (page mt-69 in tsrm) Also in the right direction. IIRC, fifth gear is the only one where orientation matters on the three tabs

NEO issue, one pull then no power

That's a pretty good start. To anyone looking to upgrading injectors, I would recommend getting a wideband. It is devastating to the engine to run lean. I have melted a head gasket running a little lean in a matter of a few days. That would be a concern if you haven't swapped to a metal head...

NEO issue, one pull then no power

Yeah, the neo is working great. I am just disappointed to find that the decel air feature that was originally programmed in for the karman sensors was deactivated with the new program upgrade because of some sort of signal input spikes that occur during operation. If you can still find a early...

    Bogs at Idle and stalls

Since you are the named official expert here, why don't you explain how it really works rather than just saying what is wrong. I can't speak for others, but I am here to learn. I'd rather know how it really works than just belittle others without the fancy 'titles' that were labeled to certain...

    Bogs at Idle and stalls

I always thought the tsrms are very incomplete for a novice mechanic. They are designed for a certified and/or experienced mechanic. They give you the specifics on each car that would otherwise be left to guess. It tells you the idle rpm but doesn't tell you how to adjust it because that is...

    Bogs at Idle and stalls

DD: Does it bog always at 1200rpm under any load and any throttle position?

    Bogs at Idle and stalls

Yeah... The 86-88 have an idle speed adjustment screw on the throttle body. It allows air to bypass the throttle valve and it IS designed to be adjusted. The 89+ do not have this(from what I've seen). Most toyotas from this era have this idle air bypass screw, even my 92 22re pickup, for...

    Bogs at Idle and stalls

It is possible the fuel filter is clogged. Usually it affects the engine under high fuel demands first the works its way down to idle. If the car sat up for a little while when waiting for the turbo then it can clog while sitting. If you have been driving it, you would notice it under full...

    Bogs at Idle and stalls

You can reset the codes by pulling the efi fuse in the main fuse box. Pulling the battery cable will reset the radio and other things that may need power for memory. I don't think resetting the ecu will solve the problem. It is either the afm or a leak in the piping. I had another...

    Bogs at Idle and stalls

Mine started doing the same thing after I installed my neo, but only sometimes. It seems to be only when it gets cold(below about 65) or really humid. The neo has helped track what may be happening because it shows if the signal is there. At idle the signal disappears but once the throttle is...

    Apexi S-ITC questions

Hold on there gofast, true the itc uses different wires than the safc for ignition, but the itc intercepts the signal from the cam position sensor and adjusts timing by advancing or retarding it then sends it to the ecu. If the ecu doesn't output spark or rpm signal, then something is wrong...

1jz build with big single turbo and support - What EMU is right for me?

Jim, If the timing control for the maft pro is intercepting and adjusting the cam sensor signal on the 7m, It will work on the 1j because they use the same signals/configuration. However, output from the ecu will be different between the two. I agree, I think you are in standalone territory.

NEO issue, one pull then no power

Ok, I found the problem. It had nothing to do with the neo. I had a small coolant leak on the isc to throttle body hose. It was spraying coolant on the tps and causing the problem. Not quite sure about how that could have made those results, but it did. Once I replaced the hose and dried...

Where did you hook up your ground and power wires the first time? Were they on the ecu or elsewhere?

Here is my pinout for the early ecu. I don't know how much use it will be to you, but maybe it will help.

7MGTE advice... No boost and huge backfires!

Also check for boost leaks. If you have one, the the turbo will overspool and the engine would run really rich under boost. That would cause gas to be expelled into the exhaust. Boom! Still change the gas.:3d_frown:

    Apexi S-ITC questions

This is the initial source of the manual that I found on the sitc. You want to see p18-19. http://www.ca.dsm.org/tech-sitc.html I will have to draw up the pinout for mine later, i don't have time right now. Also, did you hook up your power wires to the ecu or elsewhere. I just...
