Ignitors RARELY go bad. In fact, i've never actually heard of one truly failing, though i've heard people blame it only to be wrong. Either way, if its turns out to be the ignitor I have an extra for sale :)

Its a six puck disk....what do you expect? You using an aftermarket PP too? If it's an inconsistent 'catch point' you may be bleeding from your master/slave.

ive had this happen but on an aftermarket gear. The pin hole on the gear actually widened over time causing a very noticeable knocking noise and the gear itself to be quite loose. Most likely not your problem but for those who may search this in the future its something to consider looking at.

From what i understand, the SSAC or copy mani's have improved over the pasat 5 years or so and cracking is no longer an issue. Can't be sure of course as i don't own one anymore but i do recall several threads regarding the issue.

ive had this happen, turned out to be a loose/bad cam gear. Mine were poor aftermarket though (OBX). Check any rotating assembly, specifically pulleys, crank, water, etc for axial or rotational play. I still have a slight tapping from time to time, i believe its my PS pully as it has some minor...
