    If you wanted good gains from a 7MGE you'd probably have to make it match the new cars of today. Let's look at Honda for example, they can rev to heaven, they have VERY high compression ratio (some as high as 11:1), and a good flowing head. So you'd probably have to get high compression pistons...

    The 2.25 inch exhaust I had with a resonator/muffler setup was pretty damn loud! I can't imagine how loud a 2.5 or 3 inch would be with a fart can.

    I recall that 2.8 inch crush bent exhaust is equivalent to a 2.25 inch mandrel bent exhaust, but don't quote me for that one. And backpressure is not needed in any system...exhaust velocity is though.
