The door is spring loaded to stay open or shut. It was a little tricky to install and I had to trim the radio bezel thingy to get it to open correctly but not too bad.
Here is a pic of the box with a door on it. I don't know the part number but it was pulled from a Toyota at the junk yard (don't remember what car though - sorry).

It';s all about the installation angle. I have an adjustable engine leveler that works wonders for just this type of installation. You can borrow it when your're ready. In fact, give me a call and I'll give you a hand.
