Sounds exactly like what happened to my front wheel bearing. Starts off by sounding like a groan when turning, then gradually gets lounder and sounds more like high friction...eventually its the sound of metal on metal regarless of operating condition. Took about 400 miles to go from slight...

Just wanted to give some props to Goodridge...I called the Goodridge site in California and explained that while installing my new brake lines the banjo bolt stripped. The woman on the phone was very apologetic...I told her that I was looking for the part number of the banjo bolt that came in...

I wasn't able to get them bled because the driverside banjo was leaking...I had to order a new Goodridge banjo bolt...wasn't totatlly sure which one to get so hopefully I ordered the correct one.
Installed new Goodridge SS brake lines...stripped the driver side banjo bolt while torquing...installed using stock banjo instead...leaked brake fluid all over my freshly painted caliper...FML
Installed lower control arms with all new cam bolts and washer, new poly bushings, and new lower ball joint. Also installed knuckle with new bearings and oil seals installed.
Tried to install BeechPerformance steering rack spacers and stripped the inner tie rod while torqueing...I should have realized that with less thread engagement the load on each thread would be higher than normal. Lesson Learned
Not New...I took mine off and the ball joints were bad. So I picked up a set from a local junk yard with good (better) ball joints...cleaned and polished them, got new ball joint boots and installed new poly bushings.
Just reinforce it bro. Grind down the powdercoat where you are going to weld...weld it up...and have it re-powdercoated. You will spend less money and time this way
