Hey guys,
is there a difference between 87 and 88 GE engine wiring? I've got a line on an 88 wiring supplement that I was hoping could work with my 87 7mge engine that I will be swapping into my mk2.
I'll be thankful of any advice.

excellent. so, from a tuning point of view, would you say it is possible to get a decen tune with one of these units? does the ge ecu which uses a flapper respond in a similar way to a GE ecu that uses vortex?
just wondering if it was something weird like GE maps were predetermined and the it...
CRE, have you had a chance to attempt tuning yet? would love to hear how well the 7mge computer takes to tuning, and if you were able to get the maft pro to cooperate
you think some flat, blunt area is necessary? I'd say I have it 50% done, there is still a flat section roughly 3mm wide. I could leave it. Can you elaborate IJ?
P5150's write up suggests knife edging it.

I'm taking a break, have been porting my head.
seemed to make sense to knife-edge the port divider on the intake side.
I started knife edging the divider for the intake port and just read this....
it suggests I shouldn't have done it....now what!?! ahhh help...
most carb related porting guides suggest an 80 grit final finish. However, I have heard on line for fuel injected motors, 120 grit is a much better choice. Can somebody more knowledgeable than me suggest something?
Remember when I said this was a budget build? I wasn't kidding.
How to build a work bench
Step 1: find a garbage can, empty it.
Step 2: safety first! fill it full of supra rims (or bricks...but supra rims are more appropriate I think) so it won't tip over!
Step 3: Find some left over...
here's some pics of my brake upgrade using cressida brakes. KVR "carbon fibre" brake pads were used with a new toyota fitting kit, KVR slotted and plated rotors were installed along wit technafit stainless braided lines. I used rebuilt calipers in the front and cleaned and greased the rear supra...
update on the engine! I recieved the head back from the machine shop. I had it cleaned, pressure tested and checked for warpage. Everything looks good, there are no cracks and it's warped 8 thousandths. I will have it machined flat after the porting and hand lapping is done.
the new engine...
what kind of silver paint are you using? is it durable? the finish looks great!. i've used some "aluminum" coloured duplicolor high heat stuff but any kind of cleaner strips it off easily.
looks good man.
i've seen erics car...those turbos were laggy on his 1j. It seemed like they fired up at around 5000rpm and by 6000rpm all hell broke loose....thing went like crazy. 650hp twin turbo 1js sound awesome with an electric dump (open exhaust) :)
51 cards is actually Steve Brecht, a...
quick, and boring update:
I borrowed an air compressor and die grinder from George (Raptor Racing), which is now in my basement. I ordered a head porting kit from standard abrassives. found here:

(actually got my...
my bad, maybe I should clarify...this motor will never see boost. The motor that does see boost may not even be a 7m, and if it is, it will be a later 7mgte block, with piston cooling nozzles, lower compression (perhaps forged), with full GTE electronics. This is an NA motor, and will stay that...
Hey guys, thanks for all the info and suggestions. those valve springs sound like the hot ticket.
Re going turbo: there's a high chance I eventually will go turbo, there's no denying the power it can generate...and lag is overrated. I refuse to half-ass or rather, under fund a turbo build. For...
Was just doing some reading on the chevy valve spring install and it seems like a good idea. would the be required for my application though? I dont' have a desire to rev it past redline, and my camshafts will be ground with that in mind. Has anybody been running these for a long period of time...
thanks guys
SS5000: not too concerned about making it interference. I maintain my car ery well and would change the timing belt long before it ever thought of breaking, or oil getting on it. Again, I have to make some REAL measurements instead of this guessing BS and "here say" and see if it's...
