- got the motor for free
- stock 5m runs great but needs it's top end to be freshened up
- exhaust bolts on, transmission too
- well within the limits (power wise) of the stock tranny, diff and clutch.
- mk2 is not heavy to push around, it's not necessary to have a turbo to have some fun.
it...
lol.
you know something is heavily modified when you have to mention it has the factory dashboard and the doors still shut...
I still think it's pretty cool regardless of how fast it should be.
win: At about 11:00pm, Some friends and I decide to drive down to lake ontario since we heard some car guys hang out there. We checked out the parking lot and everybody looked a little sketchy so we just drove through the parking lot and left. I was leading the pack of friends heading back home...
it should be noted that when you increase the size of hte throttle body, the ECU thinks that you still have the same size TB (since you're using the stock TPS) and it assumes you're applying a given amount of load and air flow to the engine. I had a conversation with ED_Jza80 who built 7MA61's...
JDM motors can be a hit or miss. some have excellent results some have horrible experiences.
most JDM motors are under 40,000km...so you need to ask yourself. If you knew you were getting rid of your car in 40k when you bought it new, how often would you change the oil?
that being said, since...
to add to IJ's post...
large plenum = more torque but you can only make it so big....throttle responsoe goes down with a larger plenum aswell. At least for an NA....I would imagine it would have similar effects on a turbo car.
the less turns and sharp edges the air has to navigate the...
you have your head in the right place that's for sure. Those new maintenance additions are very well spent. Very few people understand how important things like that are whe they buy their car....they just want to mod it right away. What good is a modified car if a stock part fails on you...
hey ryan, I'm aware of these things but some suggestions are incorrect.
- not necessarily a 5m pan is required...it needs to be a "front sump pan" 85+ mk2 5m pans are slightly deeper. all cressida oil pans are front sump too.
- There's no need to use the 7m oil pump as it is the same...
boring update, but I got some goodies. The pic is self explanatory but that ECU is a Japanese spec unit. It's designed for no EGR. you can see billy's shifter bushing there too.
I also got another large box of parts. It contains the front sump 91 cressy oil pan, hard lines, thermostat...
JJ, I wasn't disagreeing with you. I agree it's a good idea and understand what powersteering fluid goes through. I understand the concept that a higher quality carrier does not mean particulate matter will be reduced.
I just want people to take geekiness and some suggestions with a grain of...
