Just did a compression test today myself. 185-190 across the board. Was very happy :)
However, my turbo is effed, putting on my 57 trim tomorrow. Does your car blow the oil right after boost or actually DURING boost.
During boost, I think your rings are starting to bite the bullet...
Jumper that shit. T + E1 = Success!
Check the timing asap and get back.
Very bad. I fear for your head gaskets future. (unless you're lucky as hell and it's the sending unit, but I doubt it).
excuse my nubness in this department, are you running your stock O2 sensor as well as your...
I had to shim the head with 2 shims that were small enough to take clearances off of. It took me a good 8 hours to check and re-check the shims. Get the Toyota valve shim removal tool (I bought mine from the store "Canadian Tire", hell if I know where to buy one in the states) so you don't...
Questions:
How far up/down is your coolant gauge moving?
Have you checked your timing?
Have you checked your fuel pressure?
Personally it sounds like it might be a timing issue, but really it could be a lot of things.
I removed the power steering from my 88. Feels much better highway driving with no PS since it wasn't progressive. I'm not going to lie though, if my car had PPS stock I would have kept it for sure, but full P/S at 170 km/h != fun.
PPS = Keep, Non PPS = ditch imo.
That and the turbo is easy...
Man, with the comments made in this thread,
I fear for you firing your car.
Reason? You asked about some stuff, I worry about some of the connections you haven't asked about. DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTHING
Running an N1 on my car with a Nashman custom ddp and catback. Huge power gains and other than me getting bored with the ddp it sounds amazing! Almost zero drone and a sexy burble otherwise!
I recently installed a Turbosmart bov on my friends otherwise stock car.
I thought we were going to have stalling issues but its running like a champ at stock boost levels!
I can see you running super rich and stalling if pushing more than stock boost though due to the extra amount of fuel...
That hose is like 10 dollars new from Champion (you are in Houston, it wont take them more than a day?). They have them in stock at most times. It goes to the block, under the alternator.
He didn't do his research then :icon_conf . This machine shop isn't so reputable anymore I guess. The head would not have crushed the rivet enough, no.
I was lucky and got a Cometic with all the rivets overhanging the mating surfaces, so none had to be removed, you on the other hand may...
I wouldn't go that far. Unless he's pulling the head off of the car, it will be a fair amount of work to remove all the valve retainers and then reinstall them properly unless you have all the right tools. (Stuffing rope or other things down your spark plug holes to stop the valves falling is...
