    *MHG Reuse*

You're going to have to use brake quiet, or something to that effect when you're done cleaning it anyways. The problem is, when the engine heats up, you don't want the viton coating to mix with the sealant you use, that can cause issues!

    Jaguar_5's 87 Turbo Build

I would like to express that wiseco is a retarded company for using these crappy spirolox!!!! I'm getting so freaking pissed off, haven't managed to get a single one of these clips in! I have no idea how justin got to the point of tapping it in with a socket, these clips are too big and...

Thanks JaV! So it's looking like all my second rings are .016" gap, and all the top rings are .013" gap Should i just leave them as Is? or open up the top's to about .014? I'm just splittin hairs here :biglaugh: Btw, how is it that no search results appear for either "ring gap" or "end gap"?

    Jaguar_5's 87 Turbo Build

Not too hard usually, but i do plan on going to the drag strip every once in awhile, and have a long term goal of about 650 rwhp peak, if i can do so reliably! I'll only occasionally take it to redline :) I'm gonna go check the other rings and see what my gaps are looking like Also, if anyone...

    Jaguar_5's 87 Turbo Build

Got my block back, yaay! So the questions ensue yet again... Regarding Wiseco pistons / rings I have the .040 over pistons, should I follow wisecos instructions for ring gap, of .004" per 1" of bore? That would leave me at 0.0132" So far I've only stuck one ring down in the cylinder and it...

Did not know who rebuilt the engine, So I do take back being nervous about the rebuild! Glad to hear for rs4rush's sake that it was a proper build from what it sounds like, and I do hope to see the car in person one day, as a local guy :) You're certainly no idiot, I will be first to admit you...

I'm out of the country, in Israel atm. But i'll be back in 2 days I'm actually surprised I haven't gotten a voicemail from my machinist yet saying my block is ready, I'll bug him once he gets back, then things will be in full motion again! That is, until i find more toyota parts I'll need to...

    Having troubles starting.

How many miles since the rebuild? Don't jump the gun on switching to a synthetic 20w50 is WAAAAAY too thick for a old engine, let alone a a fresh rebuild! Go with a 5w30, or even 0w30 If the person that rebuild the engine told you to use 20w50, i would be nervous, very very nervous Check for...

    New Headgasket Opportunity

Get a proper lapping tool, use some proper lapping paste (i used valve lapping compound, and it worked, but I'm sure some diamond paste would work better) The weight of the lapper will be enough force, do a circle 8 on the deck surface, this will ensure even lapping, and a cross hatch pattern...
