How high are you talking about when you say top of the gear? I have heard that the stock wastegate actuator can cause the boost to drop up high. To combat this shim the wastegate with one or two washers. This will help hold the wastegate open for the last few hundred RPMs.
Just curious, what if you did the dual intercooler thing with the Sparco intercooler. I know it would be pricey, but if such good results were seen from the restrictive stock coolers, what would happen if you had two really nice intercoolers in there?
It's the oil cooler that is mounted next to the IC. You definately had a good idea there though. There are a lot of aftermarket coolers out there. The two different types are fin and tube and stacked plate, the stacked plate being considered the better of the two. HPF carries a stacked plate...
Detonation is the lurking problem here. High comp can have a lot going for it if you take the necessary precautions when running higher boos levels (higher octane gas or something like a water injection system to cool things down). I remember seeing a video of a not yet fully tuned high...
Look at the bottom of your radiator, you will see two smaller coolant lines on either side going back into the engine bay. The thing those hoses connect to is the stock cooler. It is just stuck into the lower tank of the radiator.

Will you be pulling the tranny cooler out of the radiator? The stock cooler is an integrated design, the cooler is part of the radiator. I think it may be easier if you just save up a few bucks and put an aftermarket cooler in there instead. If you decide to do dual stockers let us know, I...
I say if you had to buy a brand new daily driver the tc ain't too shabby. It's quite fast for the price range. A tc is quicker than a N/A MKIII. It has potential to be a fun back and forth to work car, especially if you threw the TRD go fast bits into it (supercharger, ect...).
The other...
That is a rather big question, and I am sure many people will tell you different things. I'd say go with one of the smaller Sound Performance turbos, but that's me.
I've been wondering about this too. I have hear some people refer to th N/A cams as hot cams. Is there anything that would make them really great in a turbo car?
