i move it into the main shop tomorrow, and i'll definately take a straight edge to it since i'll have quite a few more tools and more space.
heres a lower shot of it, i thnk it might be the lighting, as i didnt keep the wire brush in the same direction the entire time.
as for the bolt...
LOL
Probably not the best idea, but I was using 80 grit aluminum oxide sand paper. Then I got fed up with sanding, so I grabbed my mom's b/f's electric wire brush, which worked very nicely, although it probably wasnt smart. I've cleaned out the cylinder's 3 times since then though...
Got my block cleaned up real nice but I noticed some pitting, and thought I'd share a few pictures on here and get some insight as to how bad it is?
This is the intake side, very smooth
Thoughts? My plan was to have my head perfectly planed, and use a OEM composite headgasket...
could always just be your injectors firing.. i know on my bronco mine were really loud, i havn't ever really taken the time to listen to my supra's though
lol nope i know owe him 25 dollars for the cleaning and checking out. im just going to get another head, i think iv got one lined up for a great deal thanks to supraguy31. guy is savin my ass lol.
well it was hot as hell out, the bypass hose under the dizzy blew out and yea, it got pretty dam hot. guy called and said the center of the cam tunnel is up about 8 thousands and the journals are smeared because the cam got hot.
so pretty much im gonna go scrap it at an aluminum place lol
nope im just running a composite gasket to get it running, its n/a and i just want to fix it so i can sell it and buy myself an old chevy truck.
anyone here go 1j or 2j and have an extra head? lol
oh good idea, i forgot to ask if they checked the cam tunnels as well
edit: i guess they dont have a hardness tester, but he "says" hes been doin it 25 years and he can tell its gone soft, apparently the metal o rings on the head gasket had dug into the head, hes goin to check the cam tunnels...
Tells me its warped by 8 thousands, and he'd have to take off another 15 thousands because of the firing groove? which means a total of 23 thousands.. and basically he told me he thinks the aluminum softenend, and i was like shit i was really hoping it didnt anneal.
and i pretty much fucked...
my friend had some random intake for a civic laying around in his garage and it lined up just right, and even has 2 nipples for lines that i dont have plugged and it still ran fine lol, fuckin weird eh?
god i cant even imagine how low my number is haha, i know my rings arnt the greatest, and exhaust is fubar'd atm.
this new hg, cleaned injectors and cleaned everything and i bet im like 135 haha
