Sounds like you need to replace the Valve Stem Seals. Oil leaks down into the combustion chamber when the car is off and it all burns off at startup.

in the 15 min it takes to get it off I would do it. GIves you a chance to clean all the build-up out of it and the runners too.

the upper rear cover is just for dust. It does not come in contact with oil. EDIT: I was thinking 7M. Nevermind. LOL

when you had the block surfaced did you have them do it with the rear timing cover on so it would be the same height as the block?

on my 5m it was leaking from the stud that the timing belt tensioner pivots on. If it is loose take it out, clean it and put it back in with lok-tight.

Looks like a lube issue. If I polish the scored surfaces on 5th gear there will probably be too much play. Looks like I need to find a new tranny.

Thanx Anomili, I dont think there is anything really wrong with our manifolds. A bigger TB would help airflow. IMHO the FFIM just makes the intake tract shorter making boost come up slightly quicker. The bottleneck would be the TB and 2.5" piping, not the plenum. I would like other input...

Thought I would post up some info and pics of my 88 supra. If all goes well I will be racing it in the Heads Up NW drag series next year. Shooting for high 10's on 235's. I broke the thrust washer in the R154 so hopefully I can keep the tranny together with a Cryo's washer and 1st gear shift...

Well, I Cryo treated the new thrust washer. Hopefully that will help.

I bought a set and had them flow tested. They were off by 15% of each other. They are trash. You get what you pay for.
