What worries me is the crack to the bolt hole more that the other one. If it is deemed reusable (and I don't know this for sure), then your best be would be to use ARP head studs instead of head bolts as the bolt hole will not have as much stress on it as a bolt being torqued down into it.
Get your "head out of your ass". The block can and will warp, so don't try to mislead him. The Correct RA spec has everything to do with obtaining a correct seal as well. It can be a combination of both that caused it.

From what I understand, the very early '87 model GTE block did not get cast with oil squirters, that was changed later on, either toward the middle or end of the '87 run of MKIII's, or when the '88 was released, I'm not entirely sure...
