It was something commonly installed by dealerships. It never came that way from the factory.

Probably the valve cover gaskets. I had the same problem. Be sure to use a little bit of FIPG when you replace them or there is a pretty good chance they will start leaking again.

Just a wrench with an open end and a box end. It's what I used when I had to do mine.
