New turbo wobbles. Put it on?

Ok thanks for the input. Great to have some turbo experts chime in here on this topic. :) Shouldn't the turbo start spinning freely after i poured oil in it? My friend has a rebuilt turbo 62-1 and that one was rebuilt by MDC (Jon if i'm not mistaking?) . The upgrade was already done...

New turbo wobbles. Put it on?

Yes i'll try to make a better video asap. Ofcouse we don't spin the turbo a lot, but you have to test it before putting it on, right? ;) And it's definatly not just the nut. the shaft does not stay centered at all. :) I keep my hands from the turbo as much as I can. For me it's a lot of money...

New turbo wobbles. Put it on?

Oh my friend who also reads this thread just pmmed me and tells me that the compressor wheel is NOT rubbing against the housing. At least, not that we can see or hear. It's just that it won't spin freely.

New turbo wobbles. Put it on?

I did not put the turbo on the car yet, so I can't tell you what pressurised oil would do to the turbo. We put the turbo full of oil on my workbench and got the results as stated above. My friend has 2 upgraded ct-26 turbo's and he says he never had the issue I have now. Not even when he...

New turbo wobbles. Put it on?

Well it sometimes rubs the housing. I can spin it by hand and sometimes it feels like it runs free but also sometimes it's rubbing the housing and it won't spin free and come to a sudden stop when i stop spinning it while I expect it to slow down and stop because it should run free of...

New turbo wobbles. Put it on?

I need some input please guys: First things first: I've bought an upgraded fresh rebuilt turbo. It looks perfect and the seller/rebuilder has been nothing but kind and honest to me. I've contacted him about the matter and we are still in the process of 'what to do next'. I will NOT mention...

    throttle body gasket

I made a new one from a (carton) cereal box. Just cut it out to fit and add some silicone gasket and you're good to go. Holds boost up to at least 14 psi that's for sure.

    Bad idle when warmed up

That was not the problem with my car. I forgot (didn't see) to hook up the rear speed sensor wire to the engine wiring harness. after plugging it in all errors and lights disappeared as snow for the sun. thanks :)

    Bad idle when warmed up

Good for you man! Hope it stays that way. Call it coïncidence, but I just finished swapping my complete wiring harness out for a better one today. After resoldering about 60 wires (the new harness was out of a '92 supra and I have a '89) it fired right up and now I also have a perfect...

Last R154 question before i do the swap.

Theere is a small 2-wire connector on the r154. That goed to your reverse light sensor. connect them to some other wires hanging loose. for an explanation and pictures check this out http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=164088

A differnet TPS and car still wont run right.

Please do ask for yet another afm. As the problem also may very well be something completely different, I've seen people swap 3 faulty afm's before getting a good one. Did you already check your timing and spark plugs? My car would rev up to 6000rpm without load flawlessly, but hesitate...

A differnet TPS and car still wont run right.

Did you repace it with a KNOWN good afm? Otherwise get someone to drive his/her supra over to your house and swap the afm from that car in. That way you will know whether it's the afm or something else. But my guess would also be boost leak. Most probably the lower IC hose near the turbo...

    VF check

Bad gas mileage is most probably due to a faulty O2 sensor. Replace it if you didn't do that already. Vf testing: Your Vf can still be okay while your O2 sensor is failing. At least I had that. Afm can only be tuned using a wideband sensor to check for perfect a/f values (14.7:1)

You know you're a Supra owner when...

I hear you man... I was just kidding ;). starlet turbo's only come RHD. That's why lots of people buy a frontclip to put in their LHD starlets over here. :)

You know you're a Supra owner when...

Ok got another one... ...When you post you got a starlet for DD on the supra forums and everybody thinks it's a turbo :D

You know you're a Supra owner when...

...when you buy a small 1.3 starlet as a DD and while driving you constantly keep watching the water temp meter and you wonder where you can fit the extra pair of oil pressure and temp gauges you have laying around.
