You may have seen this same thread over at the forums... im just trying to find someone who has had this problem and remedied it.
So I just purchased an 89' with a 1jz installed and running, but the previous owner didnt complete the swap correctly. He did not use the JDM Fuse box, instead...
Cool, finally got it, took some time but was able to wiggle it just right. And the top driverside bolt doesnt exist on the 1j belhousing, so thats cool.
Thanks for everyones input!
Jon
Yea, thats right from the transmission side. But, i am on stock twins and have ABS, so the rear turbo is what im having clearence issues with. Loosening the motor mount will not give me any more room to wiggle the motor to give more clearance underneath because the turbo will be hitting the...
Im in the process of replacing my clutch while the engine and tranny are in the car, and just cant get it done, the rear turbo is hitting the firewall so i cant get to the top 2 bolts on the transmission. Is is necessary to remove the turbos to complete this task? Please someone shed some light...
The ecu and harness plugs are grey. so it should be a plug'n'play deal right? Wrong, this is giving me a headache. Swapping the dash harness isnt even an option at this point because the car is at the scrapyard... boo.
ive been comparing both of the harnesses and the 91 body harness has quite a few more wires than the 89. For example the white plug on the 91 body harness has 17 wires, whereas the 89 only has 13. I believe that the ecu plugs are grey.
O.k. so heres the deal, i had an 89 tubo and wrecked it. I salvaged the engine, wiring harness and ecu to swap into a new body. I ended up picking up a 91' non turbo to put my drivetrain in. Heres the problem, the body harnesses are completly different... what are my options here? Has anyone...
Well, if the shop thinks that the torque should be at 56 ft-lbs like the TSRM specifies, then that could be an issue. Usually stock bolts w/ a MHG are torqued to somewhere in the 70-90 ft-lb area. w/ arp studs is somewhere in the 85-100 ft-lb. Have you pulled your dipstick and checked the...
So the engine was rebuilt at 171875miles, how many miles does the motor have on it now? I havent heard of too many cases of a blown mhg when its torqued properly, did you check the torque w/ a torque wrench, or just by hand? Have you done a compression test? if so how did you do it (did you...
Same thing happened to me at the track. All i had was duct tape, and it worked! made 1 more pass before i left the track, 1.6 sec 60 ft. aint bad for duct tape!
most likely you got ahold of a generic T70 or something, made by masterpower, powermaster, or some other off brand name? If this is the case (and its still a good turbo and will be extremly reliable) the center section is from a combine, or some other large farm equipment. My local turbo shop...
you can definatly do the 550's and lex w/out any other tuning device, as long as the adjustment screw is on the afm. People have had great sucess with this, and you have an upper hand, a wideband, this will help you tune in the adjustment screw in the afm to get it close to your desired ratio...
ill give you $50 bucks!!!!
In my dreams.
I would ask around $1200 shipped, you'll probably get some bites around there, if not, you can always go lower!
