I spoke with Jonathon "Spaniard" today, and is a very nice person to speak with. The cam seal journal is at the machine shop now getting re ground, and when i get it back with the bill, Jonathon said that he would reimburse me for the expense's that i have had with my cams! We will see what...
160 flat, on the way to the Etown meet on pen. turnpike through a tunnel. Wouldn't do it again though.
r154 3.373 rear gear.
Oh, by the way White def... it was 88 mph.
Thanks for the offer, but they are at the machinist's now getting repaired. He guaranteed that they would not come apart, and he is going to re-balance and check the straightness of the cams before i get it back!
Turns out that the machinist that i took it to is going to drill and tap it, and machine the head of a bolt to match the pickup. And all for only $120! Thanks spaniard your the best!
well, how should i go about it? Should i grind the surface flat... then try to reattach a piece that is exactly like the pickup? or just install a dowel? in the center or offset at the beginning of the rotation?
You defiantly missed the point. The point being that its fairly obvious that the pickup is missing. yet he machined and sold them anyway... to me of course.
I included a crappy camera phone pic of the cam. the area circled in red is supposed to have a rectangular pickup... it doesnt...
so iim going to puut my machined 2j cams i my 1j last night.. one of the cam position pickup on the intake cam iw broken clean off. they have been sitting in the box he shipped them in until last night.
how important is the center cam pickup? will thw car run without it?
has anyone had...
The title pretty much says it all... After the engine warms up to operating temp when i come to stops and stuff, im getting a 300-400 rpm idle, and its not smooth. Im wondering if a sensor has gone bad, or if the idle control valve has gone bad. Just wondering if anyone else has had this...
New information!
It appears to happen even when boost is not achieved!
When i apply an above average electrical load to the factory cabin wiring the same thing happens! cruising/accelerating lightly at 10 lbs vac., turning the fan on medium or high will cause the same problem.
Im really...
Im going to start this defi link install on my 1j within the week, and i was just wondering if anyone has installed this system on a 1j, i need a little advice. Where do i install the sensors? Boost and egt wont be a problem, and i believe that i can take care of the oil temp and oil pressure...
seems a bit big for 2.5 liters of displacement.. i dunno though, do you have a flow map for the turbo? I'll guess that you wont start building boost until probably 4700-5200 unless you have a tuning device with an anti-lag setting...
Just my $.02
nope, Im not blowing any fuses. And all of the correct size fuses are in place both under the hood and in the kick panel.
One thing i noticed this morning... The car was idiling way low, about 400 rpm, when i hit the gas fairly hard the lights again would act the same way, and i wouldnt...
ive gone back through all of the wiring again... and all of the fuses (as advised) and still nothing that i can see is wrong! Damn, this is irritating. One thing that is confusing is about the Alternator wiring, any thoughts on this? Post #5, also the steeringwheel was changed out for some...
ok, well ive gone back through all of his wiring. The only thing in question is the way the alternator is wired. From the alt. there are 3 wires, and he has them running over the engine, and wired into the 7m's location. I noticed that the same 3 wires appear in the harness very close in...
