I agree with what most of what your saying . But just like we have seen with many many other automotive components sometimes those calculations are performed incorrectly or assumptions were made that should not be made. Some assumptions like detonation is the only thing that causes a bhg...

    coilovers?

    a. i realize this is a shock to you as everyone on here is driving around at 4x4 height b. wait till it's done and properly fitted...give it a week (maybe two)

    coilovers?

there are bolts with cam washers on the lower a-arms that adjust the camber. They don't offer too much adjustment unfortunately

    coilovers?

the fact that you linked me to vwvortex proves my point...but i will go further in that post I found statements like this "probably made by the same people that make the entire line of Megan Racing Coilovers" - i have already stated that megan's are crap. I have seen their shock dyno...

    head bolts

how many times do I have to say that just because "some people" havn't experienced it it isn't a problem. There is also no hard data supporting that 4g63s have crank walk problems...but everyone know that the 7 bolt engine has these problems. Your mighty totoya engineers aren't god's to where...

    head bolts

A higher (properly) torqued head will be able to withstand more detonation (ie detonation does not always mean broken engine). Most engines will encounter knock/detonation at some point...it's the engine's ability to handle that knock that determines whether the engine will be reliable. So...

Oh right, I misread...sorry about that I still fail to see how this supports your argument.

    head bolts

generally speaking oem head studs are not torque to yield bolts. Aftermarket (ARP) are torque to yield. "torque to yield" means that you can torque them to yield I do not know, but will vernture to guess oem 7m head studs are NOT torque to yield.

    head bolts

How do do you think I do think this? Every engine/car is different...you seem to think because you did it everyone can. This is far from the truth "HG studs are in fact torqued to yeild" "you can not torque to yield" WTF :aigo:

I do not have experience with them on an mkiii...I do have a lot of experience with them on 240sx's

I agree with you. However, the requirement for many schools is VERY few English classes. I took one (as I had prerequisites to not have to take more) Mechanical engineering from the University of Iowa

    head bolts

just because there is a problem does not mean that EVERY single engine will have that same problem. Varying manufacturing tolerances, driving style, engine mainteance, and modifcations will change the outcome. As we all know, just because a recall is issued on a car, does not mean ALL of the...

Well thank you for backing up your knowledge of engines by nitpicking my english (which really isn't too bad). I'm an engineer, not an english major

    need coilover advice

In the end it all depends on driver preference, your car setup, and what type of racing/driving your doing. And what track/street your on. Especially on a street car, preload is bad, because like i said it inhibits the spring from compression until a higher load...thus your suspension does not...

    head bolts

just because I don't post on here regulary does not mean that I am new to internal combustion engines you fuck Yes, detonation can cause a bhg. So can too much boost coupled with too high compression ratio. Improperly torqued studs can also cause this situation. Whether it is not...

    coilovers?

nex coilovers are probably worse than megan SS's are cheap, that's why they felt stiff as fuck HA's are actually a pretty good setup...you gotta pay to play

    head bolts

and one of the causes can be shitty torque specs from the factory and general beating your stock/mildly modded engine you should probably come with some better information next time :nono:

    need coilover advice

So your trying to improve handling with coilovers, than get crappy coilovers and make them worse with preload? If your rubbing there are other steps that can be taken other than running preload. Roll your fenders, change tire size, bang out the wheel well, remove fender lining...all of which...

    coilovers?

there is a suspension forum for these types of questions, and it just so happens that there are a couple threads with this exact question. What coilovers you choose will depend on how much you can spend and what you use the car for. Answer those questions and I can better assist you.
