    TX2K14 Group Dinner. Who's in?

I could only vote for one, but am down for Thurs-Sat. Thanks for coordinating this... Been a few years since we had a super-large group, like at PF Changs.

ODBI or ODB2 for MKIII swap?

Yeah... I initially used the JDM ECU w/MAP ECU. Any stock ECU will be fine with a piggy back. I still have the USDM OBDI and JDM ECUs as backups.

ODBI or ODB2 for MKIII swap?

I've already been impressed at how much "more specific" the diagnostics are... Although it means that the ECU/connections are more sensitive (monitored). I'm using a cheap bluetooth scanner to push the CAN data to my tablet... codes, gauges (RPM, temp, etc, etc) Some things to note: 1. If...

ODBI or ODB2 for MKIII swap?

Ping me if you go with OBDII and want the wire map I made/used... Notes resistored connections for VSVs and MAF, using MAP ECU, as well as re-purposed wires (PPS, M-Rel, Batt, etc), and other connections (OBDII bluetooth scanner, Innovate LC-1, Apexi R/SM, etc).

ODBI or ODB2 for MKIII swap?

I just switched from the Aristo JDM ECU to a USDM OBDII... MAP ECU, 650cc, ~66 single. Mainly, I'm pulling/using the CAN data -- various gauges/views displayed on my tablet (bluetooth). I have separate gauges for temp, wideband, boost and can log the MAP ECU data too, for comparisons/tuning...

    1jz wiring harness help

Basically, a connector that had around 20 wires. Some of the ones on my connectors did not match up, so I removed/repinned, so that each wire has a mate on the other side of the connector. In friend's 1J, we drew pictures to document which signals are being made thru each of the pins. Make sense?

    1jz wiring harness help

You're welcome! http://web.archive.org/web/20051227112114/http://www.1jz-gte.us/92Supra6.html Since you are missing the harness-to-dash connectors, you can actually use a universal connector(s) to bridge the 2 together. I'll try to get a pic of what we did with a friend's 1JZ and post it...

Bluetooth OBDII in an MKIII ('96+ ECU)

Just using Bluetooth ELM327 OBDII Auto Diagnostic Scanner... maybe 99 cents US. Torque Free is the app I just tried, but have several downloaded onto my tablet now. Gauges, colors, shapes, and many themes to explore...

Bluetooth OBDII in an MKIII ('96+ ECU)

Finally got around to installing the OBDII harness/ECU/OBDII Scanner... Displaying CAN data from my 6-speed ECU thru my tablet. No more paperclip/blinking light/lose-count-start-over, diagnosing BS for me! Pulled codes, watched gauges move, and got all giddy inside!!

A lot has changed since I've been involved with the Supra community.

This forum's traffic has always been a little slower than SF. It's been great for me to find no-nonsense answers from people who appreciate the results, without a lot of banter (offensive noise) to get the info I look for. Many of us have been here a VERY long time and aren't always involved...

    Any Shine Discounts??

I did not get much comms from Shine, but ordered/received without a hitch (as recommended in another thread). MVP is also a long-known supporter of the Supra community and their guys are very kewl to deal with... They even let me buy a bunch of stuff at a meet, using Paypal from my phone. You...

    Any Shine Discounts??

Sometimes they do a combined shipping thing... That's how I got my whaletail & front lip... DFW guy ordered a bunch of stuff for the locals and saved us a bit of $$. There was no shipping discount for the 2nd front lip I recently ordered tho :-(

New bearings, washers, and oil pump to provent crankwalk?

FYI... also, if the car's been sitting awhile, remove the EFI fuse and crank to build up some oil pressure and get things lubed again. My car sat for ~6 months, while I rebuilt the tranny. After I installed the tranny I pressed the clutch in, while testing the shifter and probably caused my...

What is the most rare mk3 supra part do you own

I think my WeezL Wing targa brace is rare (tho custom-group buy).

Apropos of nothing whatsoever, anyone ever neglect to secure their targa top?

I always put a few turns into the front-driver's side targa bolt. Got into the habit a long time ago when I heard it happens often enough.

JZ owners in Tampa/St Pete area

I used Eisley's (sp?) in Seffner a bunch of times for 7M stuff. There are a couple more which have been recommended since I returned to the area, but those guys will do it right (or die trying). Edit: I haven't used 'em recently, but do remember that they were inexpensive, but...

2jzgte leaking need to know part!

Good deal... Hopefully no more leaking from that area, but did also notice that the outside of the block is looking a bit oily/dirty (which is normal over a long period of time). However, you may want to clean up a bit and eventually take care of anything else, such at the valve cover gaskets...

2jzgte leaking need to know part!

^^and who's to say that the oil is not dripping from the cam seals? There may be some trustable mechanics out there, but I have not found many and do all of my own work (Christian in Garland TX is the only one I'd let touch my Supra). It is cheaper/reliable in the long run to just do it...

2jzgte leaking need to know part!

Your timing gear/trigger wheel is fine. I am really unsure of the "hairline crack" on the oil pump tho. I suppose it's a possibility, but very unlikely to me. Since, everything's taken off to this point, it's not gonna be any more time/effort to replace the pump. The pump alone is about $145...
