You could. But it will still suck. You need to spend some real money on a LSD if you want it to lock up really well. Or figure out a way to fit a spool in there or weld it (I read some people have used Toyota truck diff parts).
Checking the head bolts torque would be a great idea for you at this point. Plus you might get lucky and discover they are ARP bolts or studs. You can see ARP markings on the top of them I think. Just go read some threads about it and about how the bolts can stretch...and...recommended torque...
So now you just need a 1jz swap and you will be good to go. haha jk
When I got my car it had reciepts from a headgasket job like 2-3 years back. But then I blew a headgasket. That's 7M for ya.
This happens to me often but my car is a gutted out drift car. When it happens I just reach inside the door and unlock it inside there right by the latch. It's at the back of the door and it is hard to reach and pry with your fingers. It is hard to see in there even with my door panels off.
The...
With my maxed discount of 40% (NOT SURE HOW YOU GET 43%???!?!?) I paid like $130 for 3 months of the most basic, just enough to drive my Supra on the road, insurance. Radioid do you work for Insurance CORPORATION of British Columbia? I was just in there and I was told that I was maxed at 40%...
I'll know
haha Yah but seriously I would fix it all myself as best I could then go do some more drifting. Where I live, if you make a insurance claim and you were at fault in any way, you will lose your discount. My insurance discount is maxed at 40% from 8 years safe driving. But they don't...
I recommend Redline MT-90 synthetic transmission oil. It made my transmission shift way faster and smoother.
And ya, from my knowledge, it would not shift as fast as the W58 but should handle more abuse. Marlin Crawler has good upgrades for the R154.
My ARP bolts I believe were 90ft/lbs. I did it in 3 increments. 30 then 60 then 90ft/lbs. Just read the instructions that came with them. And I don't think a felpro headgasket is very good. From what I have read anyway... A Toyota brand one has always been recommended when I read threads about...
Is drifting a supra plausable? Yes. Question does not specify what kind of Supra but this forum mostly assumes mkiii. I believe that anyone drifting a Supra loves drifting a lot. And that person will do it as much as they can. Even on the streets when the coast is clear :icon_evil That's how...
I don't have much knowledgeable(just from being on sm for a while I'm not a mechanic) input but is the timing set properly? Like have you done it according to the TSRM and jumped T1 E1 terminals and used a timing light to check that it is timed right? And just another bit of input about things...
I was just reading about another guy doing the same swap in an rx7. You might as well check it out here maybe learn something: http://www.kelownacarlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5007
I say drift it. I do it. It's fun. It has power to start with and you can definetly modify it a lot. Probably the worst parts about it are the lack of steering angle and the stock lsd isn't that great. But of course that can be changed. If it is in fact a shell it would give you the opportunity...
I don't know if you have a manual but you can use this: http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/TSRM/MK3/manual.aspx?S=FI&P=1
I'm just guessing but it sounds like you have a lot going on. It's all in the manual.
Yah this thread is all over the place lol. I remember when I had my car all apart once I forgot to plug in one of the main wire harness plugs inside the car. And it was running really rough without it plugged in.
I'm just throwing it out there but it could be oil in the mix. Either bad valve seals or bad turbo (I don't know the details on how long you've been running your turbo, what it is, who rebuilt it etc). I was having smoking and hard starting with hot engine problem and my turbo has definetly got...
Drifting is expensive. If you want to get on a track and drift then the first things you want should be suspension(replace ALL the old ball joints bushings etc), shedding weight, and a better limited slip or possibly a welded diff. Trust me you will complain about the stock lsd once you try...
