For the record, I can only do this when the road is wet.
I was driving on a circle jerk (round-about) that I drive on every day and "test out" the corner handling and it holds tight through the turn. Well, it rained before I was doing my "test" on the corner and the rear broke free, it was my...
Thats a load off my mind, I was thinking I had a paper filter and from what I know, if you have a paper filter and do a flush without replacing the filter you can plug the filter and trash the tranny.
I have owned it for about 4 mo and 6000mi.
I can see now the difference between hard shifting and the thud.
The thud is bad (and hopefully gone) and the hard shift when hard on the throttle makes the tires spin in second gear.
Should I go with a Toyota filter or go with what ever the...
Most of the thud noise was when in "econ" mode so I keep it on "power" mode. It would still make the thud in OD and in other gears once in a while.
After the adjustment on Sunday, I drove it in "power" mode and no thud.
Tried "econ" mode and no thud.
The mark on the cable for adjusting was...
Does the tranny have a filter? I thought Toyota used a screen, the tech changing the oil thought the same and said no reason to drop the pan when doing an exchange unless the pan is leaking.
Was he right or just lazy?
I adjusted the tranny throttle cable and no more hard shift/chunk.
It was only out of adjust just a little but it makes a bid difference.
Should of done the adjustment when I got it.
My Toyota rebuilt rack I just installed seams to turn harder to the right than the left when moving.
Is this normal, is there a break in period?
I flushed the pump before hooking up the rack.
A 3/4" hose works for the oil breather, don't know how long it will last as it its tight but did slip on with silicone spray.
1/2" hose works for the PCV or what ever its called.
I need to replace the large hose from the valve cover (by the fill cap) that goes under the alt to the block.
Can I make a hose? What size is it?
Same with the valve cover (looks like a PCV without the valve) breather hoses (one on each valve cover) what size?
I did a search and found a link to how to do the valve stem seals without removing the head but the like is no good.
I have the valve cover off and am going to change the timing belt.
How much more work is it to replace the stems?
My question is, what problem will there be with driving with a leak in the air intake other than dust and what else gets sucked through the crack?
Will this cause it to run lean or will the O2 take care of that?
Its the big air intake hose from the air cleaner the one that hooks up to the throttle body.
I used factory ribbon seal. Its a soft sticky rubber ribbon that they use inside the doors with plastic.
I have a new air intake hose for the cracked hose that goes to the throttle body on order from Toyota.
I sealed the crack as good as I can with some sealant, can I drive it until the part comes or do I need to park it?
I found the problemo, I cleaned off the timing marks with carb cleaner si I could see the "lines under" the numbers. That was the problem with TDC.
I also had #3 and #6 crossed so I had a miss fire.
It helps to not be tired/in a hurry when you work on the car :icon_surp
It runs now, thanks...
I have an idea on how to check TDC on compression.
I will put a compression gauge on #1 cylinder and set TDC per the manual to see if you can get TDC not on the compression stroke.
