Maybe the voltage dropping was a sign that it wasn't charging the battery?
What did the voltage look like when not started, started with idle, and with some rev? (I am guessing you have a needle in the car showing voltage)
I'm having electrical issues too, so maybe i MAY have an idea.
Sorry, i dont mean to bump up my post so much,... the alternator is a newly rebuilt one. I have a feeling something is up with the battery, but the voltage on the needle shows its fine (even when i get these strange warning lights) and the voltage needle is fairly accurate (i've verified it on...
Ok, so here's the new headache. When idling, the handbrake light, battery light, and rear burned out bulb warning lights come on. Giving it some gas makes them go away, but when idling they come on.
There seems to be some relation between these lights coming on also with the opening of the...
Thanks a lot, lots more to learn about how engines work ahead of me. I didn't know what egr stood for, just kind of never cared to read about it. I'm surprised to say the least about learning of what egr is.
When i was replacing the alternator, i dropped the nut down, so i had to fumble around all over the place to find it. Whilst doing that in the area under the alternator, i knocked this piece from whereever it was sitting onto the ground. Its 2 cm in diameter and 2.5 cm long. What exactly is...
i tried as best as i could to estimate what a reach inch and 1.5 inche would look like.
the rear might not be so 1 inch..and the top of the car looks messed up, but quick enough
@ Cravin: AFAIK the ipod is basically just a harddrive too, they may have put the harddrive in a rubbery case, but i think its all the same. I think if tekdeus put some rubbery thing around it, it probably would be equivalent.
Its funny, i was just thinking that in the morning, i was just...
Fair enough, just going on the price tag, i think they're not worth it for the public, unless of course you're a supra fan/collector and in that case they're priced accordingly.
There's lots of these, especially in vancouver.
I am guessing these companies get these used cars for peanuts from japan, particularly because they fail newer emission standards, and then they sell them here for a whole lot more.
I guess its the spirit of capitalism, but i suppose i personally...
This is one part(the front) i am still confused about..do the different year supra fronts vary aside from the bumper and corner lights.. like the actual body in terms of the hood or the side panel? I can't quite tell.
I say it because, I don't know why but some cars look incredible, and some...
thanks for the quick responses
1) no ABS
2) the front tire seems to lock a little earlier than left, but it doesn't pull the car to one side
3) the rear right caliper isn't working, IMO there's no dust on the rims/some rust on rotors
4) rebuild calipers vs new calipers?
5) please mention some...
I’ll start by explaining the current situation I find myself in. I’m not impressed with my car’s brakes and am willing to upgrade components to improve them, but am not looking at the extreme as spending a thousand dollars on an all-in-one aftermarket setup as it seems a bit...
I feel bad for him.
We shouldn't be so harsh, i'm not sure why him driving a ferrari makes him a douche. I mean 99% of us dont know how to drive either, and we're behind the wheel of half decent cars.
He worked hard to earn that car, and just like if i were to crash my car doing something...
Oh, i finally figured out what it looks like from certain angles, i think.

Is it just me or do the pre 89's front with the euro clear style turn signals look like some sort of ferrari or some other fancy car?
In any case, i really like that look.
As already mentioned by IJ, I think we shouldn't have a false sense of security.
Just because our cars dont break apart doesn't necessarily mean its better for the safety of the occupants. Newer cars are made to disintegrate to absorb the forces of the crash, so we should keep that in mind...
