Strut to Turbo and Manifold Clearance with Hard Motor Mounts

Good vid! Looks like around 1 inch? And that was around 500 hp? I suppose there comes a point when the rubber wont compress anymore I wonder if 700 hp would move any more than 500hp.

Strut to Turbo and Manifold Clearance with Hard Motor Mounts

The limiter is like a little shock/strut right? I saw one but I think it was FUBAR. Im pretty sure I will have to buy a new one if I want to use it. I will check the price on my microfiche. Right now, im really pressed for space. Do you think Ill be good with 15mm of space between compressor...

Strut to Turbo and Manifold Clearance with Hard Motor Mounts

OK - I know what you are talking about... Ive seen those before. I think im using the same mounts as you are. We will see how they hold up when I really turn up the GT42.

Strut to Turbo and Manifold Clearance with Hard Motor Mounts

IJ. - I never heard the motor mounts called a "torque limiter" - I just wanted to make sure we are talking about the same thing. Would you say that your motor mount setup is the same as mine?

Strut to Turbo and Manifold Clearance with Hard Motor Mounts

Thanks for the pics bro, but I need to know how much the motor is rocking side to side on full throttle pulls - not necessarially how to set it up. My mounts are pretty solid - they are from an 88 so they shift just a bit.... not much. I also have a slightly different setup than you and i...

Strut to Turbo and Manifold Clearance with Hard Motor Mounts

Yeah, 2JZGE-T, but torque is torque and it will be using 7m mounts. So 7M or 2J advice/experience would be good here.

Strut to Turbo and Manifold Clearance with Hard Motor Mounts

Im dropping in my GT42 and building a custom FFI and the clearance from the strut to the compressor housing or FFI can be/is pretty small. I need to do some mods . How much clearance between the side of the turbo/FFI to the struts do you guys think I need? Keep in mind that I have 88...

Tips for removing crank pulley bolt??

Did you put a torch on the head of the crank pulley bolt? I know you dont want to get it too hot but it might help. I think most of the friction you are getting is from the washer-like face of the bolt. Maybe the heat will help break it up. Temp install the starter and flexplate/flywheel and...

Welding turbo elbow on compressor outlet

I know a guy that will tig weld it on for me. I plan on cutting off the vband flange and re-welding it on the elbow once I have it pointing the right direction.

Welding turbo elbow on compressor outlet

Due to the cramped space for my turbo outlet, I have ordered a 90 degree cast aluminum elbow for my GT42. Have any of you guys ever welded one of these on? I have a wire-feed aluminum welder w/argon but I dont want to warp the compressor housing when I weld it. I was thinking about going slow...
