89 7MGTE | time machine restoration, "build".Highly motivated with no time or energy

If you dont want to smooth the turbo block surface so you can go mhg, AND dont want to deal with higher compression/ cam timing issues assiciated with a composite gasket and loss of deck height, you might as well throw away the block. If you build up the na motor, you cant bump the boost up much...

Resurfacing the head for smoothness would take off very little material. Using composite will increase your compression ratio, and likely throw off your cam timing. Walbro pump would be fine for those upgrades, and cheapest option. Just be aware that there are many fake walbros on Ebay. Spec...

    Most obnoxious BOV

I know that my Tial knockoff would make a nice, calm 'pshh' when light boosting, But if i went to 12+psi, it would vent with an additional high-pitched tone added to it. Maybe you just need to increase boost to get the original sound back.

Um well, the thread starter mentioned it in the first post; he has the rfl.

Well, if you can run the edge of your fingernail over the surface and not hear/feel it, then id say you're ok.

So... when you take the radiator cap off when it's warm, coolant comes out under pressure??? Yeah, better get that checked.

    MK3 Mile/Street car build

I assume the dry ice causes the sound deadening to contract, and 'crack' away from the panels? If so, that's very interesting.

#1. WHAT a difference! Glad you go it done. #2. That finish is not smooth enough for a metal head gasket to seal. You have to either bring it back and tell them you need it much smoother for a MHG, or plan to use a composite head gasket. #3. If you go with a composite, You might want to...

    oil leak from timing cover

Did you have the block decked without the rear timing cover? If so, then it's not the gasket's fault, it's the timing cover's.

True. I do think that a stock organic disc on a stronger pressure plate is a great mild upgrade if you're heading towards 350hp.

Freshly Painted Wiper Arms and Windshield Cowl

The rubber doesn't do anything, really. Don't know why they put in on there. I removed it on mine, and powdercoated the rear arm. ps- The black you tried using that turned grayish- probably because on the temp/ humidity combo you have in Alabama. It's happened to me before, here in GA as well.

No, no fuel management system for that upgrade. Because the increase in both air and fuel is 25%, you preserve the mixture balance. The ecu has no idea that more air and fuel are going into the engine, it just knows the karman frquency in the afm, and sends injector duty cycle to match. Then...

    Power steering reservoir relocating

Looks good there. For hoses, I used AN-10 (aka 5/8) Jeg's pushlock hose, and 3/8 transmission cooler hose. Both are tight fits on the cooler, resevoir and pump.
