so.... its 100% ok not to have any holes in the rod bearing area? theres 1 on each side of the piston pin bushing.... but none in the rod area... but, your all saying its ok? i'll go take some pics of the rods for you all to look at.

a vaccum wont suck the air out... you only put fluid in ONE hole, its not like a clutch line... just jack the car up, turn to full lock, hold it.... then go to other full lock making sure the res. has plenty of fluid... maybe its your pump?
